The Opportunity
An established international maritime and offshore engineering organisation is seeking
a Senior Technician – Mission Equipment to join its fleet support operations in
Vlissingen, The Netherlands.
This organisation operates a modern and technically advanced fleet supporting offshore
energy, marine infrastructure and environmental projects worldwide. The successful
candidate will work in a technically demanding environment involving heavy equipment,
complex mechanical and electrical systems, and time-critical project schedules.
This role is primarily land-based at the Vlissingen facility, with close interaction with
vessel teams and offshore operations.
Role Overview
The Senior Technician will be responsible for ensuring mission equipment is fully
maintained, compliant and ready for deployment between offshore projects. This
includes preventive and corrective maintenance, diagnostics, preparation for
mobilisation, subcontractor supervision and technical documentation control.
The position requires a strong hands-on technical background combined with
structured planning and a proactive approach to equipment readiness and safety.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Responsibilities
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mission equipment between
projects.
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs to ensure optimal equipment availability
and reliability.
• Supervise subcontractors undertaking maintenance or repair activities.
• Prepare equipment and technical tools for offshore mobilisation, including
testing and verification.
• Support mobilisation and demobilisation activities on vessels.
• Ensure all equipment complies with safety, technical and operational standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of maintenance, inspections and service
reports.
Secondary Responsibilities
• Assist with inventory management of tools, spare parts and equipment
components.
• Coordinate procurement of spare parts, consumables and external technical
services.
• Ensure proper storage, labelling and organisation of tools and equipment.
• Provide technical support to engineers and vessel teams as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of maintenance procedures and
workflows.
• Support audits, inspections and compliance activities.
Technical Requirements
• Strong hands-on experience with mechanical, hydraulic and/or electrical
systems.
• Proven ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals and
maintenance procedures.
• Experience working with heavy equipment or complex maritime/offshore
installations is highly advantageous.
• Knowledge of preventive maintenance systems and asset management tools.
• Demonstrated troubleshooting capability with the ability to work independently.
• Strong safety awareness, including familiarity with maritime/offshore safety
standards (e.g. LOTO, lifting and rigging practices).
Qualifications
• Technical diploma or degree in Mechanics, Electromechanics, Marine
Engineering or a related discipline.
• Valid authorisation to work in the Netherlands.
• Fluent in Dutch and English (spoken and written).
Personal Attributes
• Structured, detail-oriented and methodical working style.
• Strong sense of ownership and accountability for equipment readiness.
• Effective communicator and collaborative team player.
• Confident supervising subcontractors and external technicians.
• Able to perform under pressure and meet operational deadlines.
• Comfortable working in a dynamic, heavy industrial environment.
