Pre-Construction Project Engineer

Hampton with some travel to London sites

Join us at Galliford Try as a Pre-Construction Project Engineer, where you'll play a key role within our Design Management Team. This is an exciting opportunity to support and influence design activities across a range of projects, primarily within the Thames Water AMP7 and AMP8 frameworks, with the chance to contribute to work across the UK.

Working collaboratively with Design Managers, Project Managers and our Commercial Team, you will help shape design solutions that meet the needs of our clients, our communities and the environment. Your contribution will support safe, high-quality and sustainable design across multiple projects.

What you will be doing:

• Building positive and collaborative relationships with internal teams, external partners and customers.
• Applying CDM 2015 principles, prioritising prevention and safety through thoughtful and inclusive design.
• Coordinating and managing multi-disciplinary design inputs from consultants and partners.
• Ensuring Galliford Try policies, processes and commitments are consistently upheld.
• Supporting a clear understanding of the design scope for each project.
• Attending design meetings and ensuring accurate, timely communication and documentation.
• Overseeing delivery of design information in line with agreed programmes and submission milestones.
• Responding to enquiries from designers, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Championing best practice in areas including BIM/Digital delivery, DfMA, standardisation, carbon reduction and supply chain collaboration.
• Supporting positive commercial relationships with customers, consultants and supply chain partners throughout tender and delivery phases.
• Working closely with delivery teams to promote integrated, solutions-focused project delivery.

About You:

• Degree in Engineering/Design/Architecture, Design or Construction Management
• Experience within Construction Industry and/or Infrastructure & Environment Industries (highways, rail, water or aviation).
• Good understanding of design and construction programmes.
• Good problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities.
• Technically competent with good commercial and contractual awareness (knowledge of CDM 15 desirable).
• Well organised, deadline-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities effectively.
• Proficient IT and computer skills.
