Partly remoteOur client is currently recruiting for the position of Materials & Corrosion Engineer. This will be a 12-month PAYE contract role based in Aberdeen with hybrid working options.
Role overview
The Materials and Corrosion Engineer is responsible for the managing the degradation mechanisms and materials selection across topsides pressure equipment, wells and brownfield projects and may include pipelines and subsea facilities of one or more facilities across the offshore operated facilities. The position is focused on supporting the operations and maintenance of the facility to ensure safe production of oil and gas.
The position reports to the Integrity Team Lead and is responsible for delivering Materials and Corrosion activities in compliance with company governance management system and corrosion management framework policy using the Integrity Management System (IMS) and corrosion modelling tools.

Key responsibilities include:
- Support the Offshore assets with direction and guidance on Materials and Corrosion management and assurance.
- Manage the Materials and Corrosion processes in line with the requirements of recommended practices.
- ensure Materials and Corrosion related integrity of the facility is always maintained and demonstrable.
- deliver materials selection, corrosion modelling, chemical treatment requirements, corrosion monitoring requirements and failure investigations.
- Maintain the integrity operating windows (IOWs), analyse corrosion monitoring and microbial survey data and determine the fabric maintenance and CUI prioritised scopes for external corrosion protection.
- Prepare for and chair the corrosion management expert groups and articulate the corrosion related safety critical risks to leadership.
- Visibly demonstrate safety leadership and set clear expectations for Materials and Corrosion related activities.
- Support the facilities in developing and delivering Materials and Corrosion related parts of the HSSE plans.
- Support the assets with Materials related failure investigations.
- Provide Materials and Corrosion support for safety case revisions and HSEx engagements.
- Support standardisation and simplification and the enablers required for the Materials and Corrosion discipline to minimise value leakage.
- Development to TA2 Materials and Corrosion capability and implementation.
- Support Facility Management of Change and Deviation management with Materials and Corrosion discipline expertise.
Skills, experience & attributes of candidate
- Technical/Engineering Degree in a Materials and Corrosion related subject, or a discipline related to Pressure Equipment Integrity and Materials and Corrosion.
- Significant experience in a Materials, Corrosion and Inspection role related to plant and equipment in hydrocarbon production or process industry.
- Strong and visible safety leadership behaviours.
- Demonstrated track record of collaborative behaviours and strong influencing skills in delivering integrity management.
- Skill in degradation mechanisms and corrosion control systems, including chemical inhibition and use of corrosion modelling tools.
- Skill in materials failure investigation.
- Knowledge in integrity and repair assessment.
- Knowledge in oil and gas upstream and subsea materials selection.
- Knowledge in welding, and quality assurance /quality control for fabrication and repairs.
- Knowledge in Risk Based Inspection.
- Effective communications skills.
