We are looking for a Senior Chemistry Engineer for one of our clients with the following details:

Location: Bristol, England

Start Date: ASAP

Work status: Residential

Contract Duration: Permanent/Full Time

Qualification and Experience Required:

  • Degree-qualified Engineer or Scientist in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline
  • Proven experience in nuclear chemistry during commissioning and plant operation phases (minimum 5 years)
  • Strong understanding of water-steam chemistry, radiochemistry, and chemical control in nuclear power plant systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in EPR projects (experience on OL3, FA3, or similar plants is a strong advantage).
  • Good knowledge of system and process engineering principles relevant to nuclear plant operations.
  • Experience working within multi-disciplinary teams on large, complex engineering projects.
  • Familiarity with nuclear safety culture, operational constraints, and quality requirements in regulated environments.

Desirable qualifications, experience and skills:

  • Ability to take a strategic and analytical approach to complex chemistry and operational issues.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, able to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Capable of writing and reviewing technical reports and procedures that clearly present detailed chemical and operational analyses.
  • Motivated, organised, and able to work autonomously while managing priorities across multiple workstreams.
  • Proactive in identifying and resolving technical challenges, proposing improvements to chemistry control strategies.
  • Previous experience liaising with commissioning, operations, and safety teams in an international nuclear project environment

Languages (level)

  • English fluent (minimum B2)
  • French is a plus

The Senior Chemistry Engineer is responsible for supporting the production of the commissioning documentation associated within the chemistry scope of the project.

  • He will support the wider commissioning team regarding all questions in interface with Chemistry of the Nuclear Island during the different phase of the commissioning.
  • He will also support the customer for any question related to the preparation of the test execution, and will provide needed support to the Commissioning Engineering Team (CET) by clarifying the Open Points raised by the On-site commissioning team.
  • In addition, he will coordinate with the different stakeholder for the survey of the technical inputs required for the production of the commissioning document related to Chemistry such as the Technical specification.

The key duties, responsibilities and deliverables of the Senior Chemistry Engineer are as follows:

Preparatory phase

  • Confirm the project data & internal organization with the discipline Lead (budget, time schedule, author - checker - approver)
  • Identify the relevant stakeholders and means
  • Check the maturity of the input data against reference configuration and/or upcoming changes
  • Collect OPEX
  • Record risks in the related register and propose mitigation plan, if any
  • Arrange pre-job brief / kick-off meeting
  • Support on opening of the study file

Execution phase

  • Review and support the production the deliverables in compliance with EPR-E engineering procedures and taking into account OPEX from other projects
  • Get the deliverables checked by the relevant parties - resolve outstanding issues and comments
  • Survey commissioning deliverables elaborated by others (e.g. contractors) with respect to project standards
  • Provide support to Commissioning Engineering Team if any chemistry topic is raised by the customer and related to RD scope.

Monitoring phase

  • Report progress towards initial time schedule & budget
  • Update risk register on a need basis

Close out phase

  • Get approval of the deliverables by the relevant parties without comments (SAN, SCP and CP)
  • Store the above-mentioned deliverables and associated study files in the EDMS
