Job Title: Construction Manager
Location: On-site, Abu Dhabi, UAE
Role Purpose:
As a Construction Manager, you will be responsible for leading all construction activities on site. Your primary duties include implementing effective methodologies and strategies to optimize productivity and secure project profitability. You will be empowered to ensure projects are completed on schedule, resources are efficiently utilized, and execution is cost-effective. This role requires creative thinking, advanced problem-solving skills, and a results-oriented mindset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Project Manager and planning engineer in project planning. Review work progress, time schedules, and provide feedback for look-ahead planning to achieve targets.
- Review and verify drawings, specifications, and documentation; identify discrepancies or problematic design issues and recommend solutions.
- Define and organize project work fronts; prioritize on-site activities, and direct the construction team for optimal, cost-effective execution.
- Set, monitor, and adjust productivity rates and operational targets. Communicate targets to section engineers and provide direction to maximize profitability.
- Advise the Project Manager on methodologies and technical choices; support subordinates for proper execution.
- Forecast required resources (people, materials, equipment, tools), ensure timely provision, and set strategies for effective allocation and management.
- Continuously supervise work execution, coordinate with QA/QC teams, review reports, conduct meetings, and resolve deficiencies to ensure compliance with design/standards.
- Anticipate and resolve critical issues, investigate incidents or delays, and create mitigation plans to minimize costs and ensure business continuity.
- Oversee resource productivity and performance. Review progress reports and make adjustments to optimize results and meet targets.
- Monitor compliance with project policies and procedures. Ensure accurate and timely report/document production and submission.
- Lead safety initiatives on-site, oversee toolbox meetings, and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
- Liaise with external stakeholders to resolve issues, oversee subcontractor work, and maintain positive partnerships.
- Organize efficient demobilization plans at the end of each project phase.
- Coach and mentor junior engineers for continuous skill development.
Requirements:
- Engineering degree in a relevant specialization with 8-10 years of experience; or a Master's degree with 5-8 years of experience.
- Member of/accredited by a national engineering body.
- Team player focused on effectiveness, efficiency, quality, and safety.
- Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in English and Arabic (written and spoken); French is a plus.
