About the Role

Johnson Controls is seeking an experienced Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join our Fire Suppression Contracts Group. You will play a key role in commissioning water-based suppression systems, ensuring installations meet the highest safety and performance standards. This position is ideal for someone who thrives in technical environments, enjoys problem-solving, and is committed to delivering exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities

• Commission the electrical scope of water-based suppression systems, including deluge, sprinkler, fire detection, and gas suppression systems.
• Conduct installation inspections, functional testing, cause-and-effect checks, and system programming.
• Complete and deliver full commissioning documentation for each project.
• Provide system demonstrations and training to clients and end users.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, and clients to resolve commissioning issues and maintain project timelines.
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, including RAMS, PPE, toolbox talks, and company EHS standards.
• Travel to sites across the UK, including periods working away from home.
• Drive productivity and support the achievement of contractual programme dates.

What You Bring

• Experience in a customer-facing technical role, ideally within fire sprinklers, gas suppression, or fire detection systems.
• Recognised apprenticeship or equivalent technical qualification.
• Strong knowledge of BS5839, IEE regulations, and electrical commissioning standards.
• Understanding of ATEX and hazardous area requirements.
• Experience with conventional and addressable fire alarm systems and manufacturers such as Tyco, Kentec, and Advance.
• Ability to work on large networked systems and complete commissioning documentation.
• A full, clean driving licence (preferred).
• A proven track record of delivering high-quality work and resolving technical challenges.
