Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar

Work Pattern: Office based, 5 days per week

Contract Duration: Long-term contract running until December 2030

Overview

A major organisation delivering large-scale infrastructure and building developments is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to support the delivery of complex civil and structural engineering projects. This role will focus on the technical review, coordination, and oversight of structural design and construction activities across a diverse portfolio of projects.

The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that designs, materials, and construction practices meet applicable engineering standards, quality requirements, and project objectives. This position offers the opportunity to work on challenging projects involving underground and above-ground structures, high-rise buildings, industrial facilities, and critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct civil and structural engineering activities throughout all phases of assigned projects.
• Review and verify engineering drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation submitted by contractors and consultants.
• Evaluate technical submissions including material approvals, laboratory reports, testing plans, and quality documentation to ensure compliance with project requirements and applicable standards.
• Prepare structural scopes of work for various engineering and construction contracts.
• Support project activities including pre-commissioning, commissioning, and handover stages.
• Review and assess contract variations and technical deviations, providing recommendations in line with applicable engineering standards and project guidelines.
• Review and approve contractor method statements to ensure compliance with technical scope and project requirements.
• Liaise with contractors and consultants to resolve engineering and technical issues during project execution.
• Provide technical leadership and support to project engineering teams on structural and civil matters.
• Coordinate with appointed consultants responsible for construction management and site supervision.
• Participate in technical bid evaluations to ensure compliance with engineering scope and project specifications.
• Coordinate engineering activities across multiple disciplines to ensure timely delivery of technical services.
• Support the development of junior engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing within the team.
• Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multicultural project environment.
• Identify and resolve technical challenges related to civil and structural engineering works.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or an equivalent engineering qualification.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering is preferred.
• Professional engineering registration with a recognised international engineering institution is advantageous.
• Relevant professional certification or registration recognised within the region is preferred.
• Minimum of 12 years of relevant experience in civil and structural engineering projects.
• Proven experience working on large building projects involving reinforced concrete and steel structures.
• Experience with post-tensioned slabs or beams and hollow core slab systems is desirable.
• Experience with underground and above-ground concrete structures.
• Experience in the design or review of steel structures.
• Experience with underground support systems and temporary works design.
• Experience working on high-rise buildings and industrial low-rise structures.
• Experience reviewing structural design deliverables including calculations, drawings, and specifications.
• Good understanding of construction activities and project coordination.
• Experience reviewing construction documentation including technical and contractual submissions.
• Knowledge of international engineering standards and codes relevant to structural design and construction.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
