Overview

As an ITS and Traffic Design Engineer, you are responsible for designing and developing signalized intersections and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), CCTV systems, vehicle detection technologies, and associated power and communication networks. You work closely with multidisciplinary teams to seamlessly integrate ITS solutions into broader transportation and infrastructure projects.

Your role includes conducting feasibility studies, performing technical evaluations, and preparing comprehensive design documentation, specifications, and drawings. You ensure technical support throughout the project lifecycle while maintaining compliance with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.

Your role

• Design and develop traffic signalized intersections.
• Design and develop Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) solutions, including Variable Message Signs (VMS), CCTV systems, Vehicle detection systems, power and Communication networks.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate ITS designs into broader transport and infrastructure projects.
• Conduct feasibility studies, and technical evaluations to inform ITS design and implementation.
• Prepare detailed design documentation, specifications, and drawings for ITS projects.
• Provide technical support and project teams throughout the project lifecycle.
• Stay updated with the latest advancements in ITS technologies and standards to ensure cutting-edge design solutions.
• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources effectively to ensure successful project delivery.
• Ensure all ITS designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
• Good understanding of British, American, Canada and other International design standards and specifications.
• Proficient in design software particularly AutoCAD, Civils 3D, Navisworks and Trimble Pro for Electrical Calculations.
• Proficient with new communication methods and online platforms of working.
• Proficient in all Microsoft Office software particularly MS Excel and Word.
• Proven ability to deliver work within set time frames.
• Experience/evidence and ability to work independently and manage small/medium size projects.
• Work experience in a similar off-shoring environment.
• Digital delivery experience.
• Ability to collaborate with wider teams and guide juniors.

About you

• Appropriate academic qualifications (Bachelor's/ Master Degree in Electrical, Electronics and/or Communications Engineering or equivalent).
• Appropriate professional qualifications (Institute of Engineering and Technology or similar).
• Minimum 5-10 years' experience involved in Electrical, Traffic Signals, and/or Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) for Highways/ Infrastructure projects or related field (experience of working on UK, US, Canada or Middle East projects).
