The Global Project Engineering team is a group of highly skilled Engineers and Project Managers responsible for the design, planning, purchasing and configuration of production equipment and systems in Warner Bros. Discovery's live Sports and News broadcast and production facilities. Supporting on content across WBD's networks including TNT Sports, Eurosport, CNN.
Your New Role
Join our Global Project Engineering team, a collaborative group of engineers and project specialists who design, plan, and configure production systems across Warner Bros. Discovery's worldwide facilities. In this role, you will guide and support technical system design, contribute to major facility upgrades, and help shape the future of production technology at WBD. If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges and influencing how high-quality content is created, we'd love to hear from you.
Your Role Accountabilities
• Expert responsible for the design and planning of new and upgraded production systems at WBD, including facility changes, equipment purchases, budget tracking and scheduling.
• Build, test and implement cloud-based systems and workflows for production systems such as Production Control Rooms, REMI Production, Transcode, Edit, Rendering and Origination.
• Guide discussions with operations teams to gather requirements, conceptualise design, and deploy new or upgraded systems.
• Collaborate with other Engineering groups to design, install and commission new systems.
• Evaluate new technology and make recommendations regarding equipment and software selection, including testing with Operations and Centre of Excellence engineering teams.
• Provide traditional media project coordination including scope development, requirements gathering, purchasing management, technical build management, baseline configurations, system acceptance testing and technical documentation.
• Support capital budget planning and tracking at project and departmental levels.
• Create and maintain current technical documentation of facilities, including CAD drawings, SOPs, user manuals, and project templates such as MELs, scope documents and schedules.
• Assist the team in tracking incoming equipment against purchase orders to confirm receipt and correctness.
• Interface with vendors, clients and internal management teams.
• Use monitoring tools (Service Now, Asset DB entry, SolarWinds, Splunk, SNMP, Ivanti Heat), and maintain working knowledge of NDIs and support ticket tracking.
• Provide status updates, reports and presentations to executive teams.
Qualifications & Experience
• Extensive experience working in live broadcast, production or digital engineering environments.
• Comprehensive project design experience with a majority of the following: AutoCad 2018 or above, Microsoft Windows and Office, Microsoft Sharepoint, Microsoft Visio or MIRO, non-linear editing applications (Avid, Adobe, DaVinci Resolve).
• Knowledge of Live PCR and studio equipment.
• Understanding of core production equipment including video routers, playback equipment, video wiring and cable creation.
• Understanding of live production technologies, including studio, remote and post-production.
• Advanced operational skills in video production equipment and technology. Knowledge of camera wiring is essential.
• Experience designing wiring workflows for production facilities. Knowledge of video/audio cabling is essential.
• Understanding of ticketing systems such as Service Now.
• Thorough understanding of SD, HD and UHD digital video standards and digital audio standards.
• Thorough understanding of digital video encoding/decoding and transport streams such as SRT, NDI, J2K, JXS and other streaming/compression protocols.
• Understanding of software-defined video networking and ST-2110 routing.
• Understanding of cloud-based platforms such as AWS and Azure.
• Ability to create, read, and decipher system schematic drawings.
• Comfortable with lifting heavy equipment as needed (50 lbs.).
• Willing to regularly travel within the EMEA region.
Hybrid Working - This role is advertised as a Hybrid work model, that combines remote and in-office work, following our current company policy and to be agreed with your Line Manager. Subject to any applicable laws, WBD / your Line Manager reserves the right to change this working agreement where this is essential to business needs and upon reasonable notice to you.
