We are currently recruiting an experienced Start-Up Methods & Support Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up phase of a major crude oil export pipeline development in East Africa. This is a rotational role based in Tanzania, supporting both the pipeline and terminal start-up teams and ensuring commissioning readiness, documentation control, and operational handover preparation.

We are currently recruiting an experienced Start-Up Methods & Support Engineer to support the commissioning and start-up phase of a major crude oil export pipeline development in East Africa. This is a rotational role based in Tanzania, supporting both the pipeline and terminal start-up teams and ensuring commissioning readiness, documentation control, and operational handover preparation.
Key Responsibilities
Start-Up Preparation (Project Phase)
- Review project documentation including operating philosophies, operating manuals, safety concepts, and cause & effect diagrams
- Support the preparation and updating of start-up procedures and operating manuals
- Contribute to start-up strategy development, including sequencing, scheduling, and mobilization plans
- Prepare start-up dossiers and RFSU documentation using commissioning databases
- Track commissioning activities and support start-up leads across pipeline and terminal facilities
- Monitor progress and report commissioning and start-up status to operations management
- Follow up Ready for Start-Up (RFSU) documentation and punch list clearance
- Assist with the formal handover of systems from the project team to operations
- Provide operational support and coordination across multiple sites during commissioning
- Act as a focal point for commissioning documentation and reporting
- Support field operations teams during early production/start-up activities
- Assist with preparation for project readiness audits and operational verification
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Petroleum, Industrial or similar)
- 15 years’ experience within the oil & gas industry
- Strong experience in commissioning, start-up, or operations readiness
- Previous site-based project or operations experience within large infrastructure or pipeline projects
- Knowledge of oil & gas production and pipeline systems
- Strong coordination, reporting, and communication skills
- Fluent English
