You will contribute to the development of innovative, energy-efficient mechanical systems that support resilient and sustainable digital infrastructure.As a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering HVAC and mechanical building services designs for hyperscale and colocation data centre environments, collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams on complex global projects.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the mechanical design of building services systems for data centre and mission-critical facilities.Design and develop HVAC, cooling, and thermal management systems for high-performance infrastructure environments.Produce engineering calculations, design documentation, drawings, and technical specifications.Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, architects, BIM specialists, and sustainability consultants.Support project delivery ensuring designs meet performance, reliability, and efficiency standards.Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical development within the team.Engage with clients, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver innovative engineering solutions.Ensure compliance with CIBSE standards, UK regulations, and data centre performance requirements.Required Skills & ExperienceDegree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.6-10+ years experience in mechanical design engineering within building services or consulting engineering.Strong experience designing HVAC systems, cooling solutions, and mechanical plant.Experience producing engineering calculations, technical reports, and specifications.Proficiency with BIM tools such as Revit MEP.Strong stakeholder communication and collaboration skills.Ability to manage design deliverables across complex engineering projects.Desirable ExperienceExperience working on data centre or mission-critical infrastructure projects (preferred but not required).Knowledge of data centre cooling strategies such as chilled water systems, CRAH/CRAC units, or liquid cooling.Experience delivering energy-efficient or low-carbon engineering solutions.Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards chartership with CIBSE or IMechE.What's On OfferSalary up to £75,000Visa sponsorship available for eligible candidatesHybrid and flexible working optionsOpportunity to work on large-scale global data centre projectsStructured career development and chartership supportCollaborative, multidisciplinary engineering environment
