Our client is currently recruiting for the position of Production Chemist based in Aberdeen. This has been released on a 3-6 month PAYE contract. Hybrid working is available.
 
 
OVERVIEW:
 
Ensure all chemical management activities meet legislative requirements and maintain the integrity of process systems. Provide expert advice on chemical treatments and analytical procedures.
Act as asset expert for production chemistry with Partners, other external organisations and at Industry Forums. Ensure the availability of high quality products and services in relation to production chemistry.
Ensure representative samples are taken when required.
Comply with Company / SHE policies and regulations and best practice.
 
MAIN ACTIVITIES:
 
  • Manage all production chemistry matters relating to asset operations to meet legislative requirements and maintain the integrity of process systems within the asset.
  • Recommend manage and ensure provision of cost effective chemical treatments for all topsides processes to ensure the optimisation of production, injection and disposal targets and chemical costs whilst complying with company safety and environmental policies and legislative regulations.
  • Coordinate sampling activities and ensure representative samples are taken when required.
  • Provide advice on chemical treatments and analytical procedures, with the assistance of the Company Lead Chemist when required.
  • Consistently endeavour to use best environmental solution to problems, when choosing chemical treatments.
  • Troubleshoot on short and long term operations problems. Identify and investigate problems, liaising with operations, laboratories, consultants and vendors. Ensure cost effective solutions are proposed and implemented.
  • Monitor, analyse and report on all chemical treatments to ascertain efficiency, modification or re-treatment requirements. Review laboratory analysis and results. Maintain a proactive approach to process problem-solving.
  • Supervise company laboratory activities ensuring compliance with procedures, general specifications, company rules and maintain auditable record of activities.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of Production Chemistry management procedures within the asset.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of Chemical Treatment Manuals for the asset.
  • Responsible for the preparation and issue of EEMS reports on production chemical usage and oily water within the asset.
  • Develop and maintain highly effective and productive relationships with internal and external contacts.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Chemical Management System is in compliance with statutory and company requirements for the asset.
  • Responsible for ensuring the Laboratory Information Management System is in compliance with statutory and company requirements.
  • Responsible for ensuring an audit plan is maintained and implemented.
  • Provide specific advice and guidance to laboratory technician / Site Operators
  • Recommend and define specialist technical training for site/offshore personnel to enhance the competency of personnel and contribute to the competency evaluation scheme.
  • Provide input to discipline budget.
  • Responsible for managing specific budget lines, monitoring costs and ensuring that expenditures are within budget.
  • Responsible for the preparation and review of well composition data for inclusion within PDMS to ensure compliance with SOX legislation.
  • Deputise for Production Chemistry Team lead as required.
  • Member of ERT.
 
 
 
SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:
 
  • Comply with Company / SHE policies and regulations and best practice.
  • Experience in Production Chemistry/Chemical Engineering within an oil and gas operations environment.
  • Experience in the North Sea zone with a good working knowledge of procedures and operational constraints.
