Job Description

The Job Mission

This is a hybrid role, with a strong on-site presence required in Bridgwater, with relocation support available where needed. You will be operating within the Technical Branch, the role focuses on resolving complex, cross-discipline engineering challenges across the project. Within your role, you'll be acting as a technical authority, the position ensures safety, compliance, and delivery across design and construction interfaces.

Lead resolution of complex multidisciplinary design and construction engineering issues
Provide technical oversight of safety classified design changes and modifications
Prepare and author technical justifications, reviews, and decision documentation
• Support configuration management and control of as-built design information
Ensure integrity of nuclear safety case for all engineering changes
Engage with stakeholders including designers, contractors, and project teams
Drive pragmatic engineering solutions across mechanical and system interfaces
Lead or support technical task forces for high-risk engineering challenges
Represent engineering decisions with clear risk-based justification
Support resolution of site queries during construction and commissioning phases

Qualifications

Nuclear experience is not essential, but is of course welcome. If you have worked within a highly regulated environment, your skills and approach are highly transferable and of strong interest to us.

We also recognise that the perfect candidate rarely exists. If you feel you meet around 80% of the criteria and are motivated to develop further, we would strongly encourage you to apply

Degree in Mechanical or equivalent qualification
Experience working within highly regulated industrial or engineering environments
Background in piping systems, fabrication, or pressure systems engineering
Proven stakeholder management across multidisciplinary engineering teams
Understanding of mechanical, electrical, and civil interfaces on construction sites
Experience working in site-based engineering roles or project environments
An understanding of NDT methods such as UT, RT, PT, and MT would be desirable
Ability to produce and review technical documentation and justifications
Experience assessing engineering risk and supporting safety case requirements
