Role Overview:
- Manufacturing Engineering focal for the assigned supplier base in the region; owns the technical performance of multiple suppliers, will require supplier visits for process reviews, problem solving, and capability development.
- Develops and maintains technical capability assessments for regional suppliers, creating roadmaps for manufacturing new technology development program parts and existing production parts, including capability, and risk assessments.
- Leads industrialization of new parts at suppliers, including review of manufacturing plans, PFMEAs, control plans, process flows, and validation/qualification plans (e.g., FAIs, PPAPs where applicable).
- Supports in supplier selection and sourcing strategies based on technical capability, and risk; partners with sourcing owners to ensure supplier choices provide long-term value.
- Supports source changes and transitions, including technical due diligence, process transfer, and risk mitigation plans; develops lower-performing suppliers through on-site support, corrective action plans, and capability-building initiatives.
- Proactively identifies barriers to quality, and resolves them in collaboration with Fulfilment, Commercial, Quality, and Engineering teams; drives structured problem solving using methodologies such as 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D, or similar tools.
- Has manufacturing expertise across multiple related part families and processes, with deep domain expertise in complex component manufacturing (e.g., rotating hardware, structures, casings, or precision assemblies, as applicable).
- Guides and influences suppliers' performance based on manufacturing expertise, focusing on process robustness, yield improvement, cycle time reduction, and defect reduction.
- Demonstrates deep understanding of conventional, non-conventional, and special processes, Special processes: heat treatment, coatings, NDT, surface treatments, etc.
- Ensures compliance including safety, quality, and special process approvals.
- May mentor junior manufacturing engineers or supplier quality/manufacturing resources, sharing best practices and supporting skill development across the team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma / GED with a minimum of 10 years of experience in Manufacturing)
- At least 12-15 years of experience in Manufacturing or Production Management
Preferred Qualifications:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; able to work effectively across multiple functions and levels at both suppliers and within the company
- Hands-on expertise in manufacturing programming tools related to traditional and non-traditional methods.
- Experience with Lean / Continuous Improvement tools and structured problem-solving methods.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, matrixed, and global environment, with frequent supplier travel.
- Humble: respectful, receptive, agile, eager to learn and open to feedback.
- Transparent: shares critical information promptly, speaks with candor, and contributes constructively to team decisions.
