About the Role

In this position, you are part of our Warehouse Service organization, where RMR (Retrofits, Modifications and Renewals) projects are executed. A key part of your role is designing and validating mechanical solutions. While working on both recently installed systems and installations that have been running for many years. This requires affinity for legacy equipment and the ability to apply modern engineering solutions, without disrupting ongoing operations.

You work with live operational environments (brownfield), where systems remain running during upgrades. You ensure upgrades are technically safe to implement and fully integrated into the current system architecture. This makes the role dynamic and impactful, customer needs can arise unexpectedly, priorities may shift, and you will regularly switch between engineering, on-site support and occasional pre-sales activities.

You collaborate closely with project managers, sales engineers, supply chain partners and installation teams. While you are part of a compact and highly collaborative RMR team in Veghel, you are also connected to a broader international engineering network, enabling you to share knowledge and tackle complex challenges together.

This role requires technical accuracy, adaptability and clear communication, combined with a hands-on mindset and a strong sense of ownership. Your Responsibilities:
  • Translate customer specifications and technical drawings into functional mechanical system designs for RMR projects.
  • Convert as-sold concepts into detailed, cost-effective engineering solutions in cooperation with cross-functional teams.
  • Develop 3D models, perform clash detection and create 2D approval and installation drawings.
  • Conduct spatial analyses and perform key engineering calculations (e.g., throughput, forces, motor sizing).
  • Engineer non-standard mechanical components and interfaces for retrofit and upgrade environments.
  • Ensure all designs comply with safety standards, ergonomic guidelines and system architecture requirements.
  • Specify mechanical equipment (in-house and third-party) and prepare motor manifests.
  • Document engineering decisions and deliver clear, complete installation and design packages.
  • Perform site surveys and support installation and commissioning activities - both on-site and remotely.
  • Contribute to the team's growing demand for system upgrades, lifecycle extensions and performance improvements across a rapidly expanding installed base.

What do we ask from you?
  • HBO (higher vocational education) or Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering or a similar field.
  • Relevant engineering experience and strong conceptual and analytical thinking skills.
  • Ability to translate system-level concepts into detailed mechanical designs.
  • Proactive, curious, adaptable and comfortable taking initiative.
  • Strong communication skills and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively under pressure while maintaining high-quality output.
  • Skilled in problem-solving, research and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with project planning and tracking tools.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (2D/3D) and familiarity with the Autodesk suite (Revit, Navisworks, Vault, BIM360/ACC).
  • Ability to work independently as well as within multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong command of English and willingness to travel up to 10%.
