The Role

We are currently seeking a proactive and enthusiastic Junior Automation and Electrical Project Engineer to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a background or formal training in automation or electrical engineering who is looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking organisation.

Based at our Head Office in Godalming, this permanent, full-time role will involve supporting both the automation and electrical teams. The successful candidate will assist in the engineering, development, and delivery of automation and electrical projects and will gain valuable hands-on experience in a professional environment.

Key Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the Junior Automation and Electrical Project Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting Senior Engineers with the development and execution of automation and electrical engineering activities.
  • Ensuring adherence to safety, cost, programme, and quality requirements.
  • Supporting interface activities across automation, electrical and data/IT systems.
  • Maintaining and delivering project documentation, including technical deliverables, registers, and reports.
  • Contributing to project reviews covering cost, programme, progress, quality, compliance, and constructability.
  • Complying with company QA and engineering standards.

Technical Competencies

Desirable Electrical:
  • Fundamental understanding of electrical LV distribution systems and IT networks.
  • Knowledge of power and lighting system design.
  • Experience with electrical design tools such as Amtech or Relux/Dialux.

Desirable Automation:
  • Some knowledge or experience of PLC/SCADA control systems.
  • Experience of Factory and/or Site Acceptance Testing of control systems.

General Competencies:
  • IT proficiency, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to produce accurate and concise design specifications and schedules.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Awareness of time, cost, quality, and relationship management principles.
  • A clear enthusiasm to develop a career in automation and/or electrical engineering.

Desirable Experience

  • Experience delivering automation and/or electrical engineering systems.
  • Knowledge of control system lifecycle activities including design, implementation, testing, and commissioning.
  • Familiarity with software development processes and QA requirements.

Person Specification

  • Degree or Master's level qualification in a relevant engineering discipline (preferred).
  • Motivated, proactive, and eager to learn.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within project teams.
