1 - Mission:

To provide mechanical engineering building utilities design and site supervision services for aviation related projects including airport terminals, hangars, MRO facilities, and fuel systems.

The Senior Mechanical Engineer supports all project phases-from concept to construction and commissioning-ensuring compliance with UAE authority regulations, aviation requirements, and international standards.

He/She contributes to delivering safe, efficient, and high-performance facilities across aviation and industrial infrastructure projects.

2 - Line & Staff Relations:

The Senior Mechanical Engineer will report to the Lead Engineer or Design Manager.

He/She will work in coordination with:

• MEP Engineers, Architects, Structural, Electrical, and Civil Engineers
  • BIM Manager and BIM Modellers.
  • Contractors and sub-consultants during design and site phases
  • Statutory authorities including:

• Municipality
• Civil Defence (DCD) / ADCD
• DEWA / ADDC / SEWA
• Aviation authorities (GCAA / DCAA as applicable)

3 - Key Responsibilities:

A - Design & Engineering:

• Develop mechanical designs from concept to IFC using Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, and Navisworks.
  • Perform engineering calculations including:

• Cooling load calculations (HAP / IES)
• HVAC various design calculations
• Ventilation and smoke control systems
• Hydraulic calculations
• Public Health Engineering

• Ensure compliance with:

• UAE Fire & Life Safety Code
• UAE authority regulations (DM, DCD, DEWA, etc.)
• Aviation requirements (GCAA, DCAA, ICAO/IATA as applicable)
• International standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, IPC)

• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams through BIM for clash detection and design integration.

B - Construction Site Supervision:

• Review and comment on mechanical systems various submissions including shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements.
  • Monitor and supervise mechanical works on site (HVAC, firefighting, Plumbing systems).
  • Ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings, and QA/QC procedures.
  • Attend site meetings and coordinate with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Support Project Manager in progress and technical reporting.

C -Testing & Commissioning and Close Out:

• Support Testing & Commissioning (T&C) activities for all mechanical systems.
  • Verify system performance against design intent.
  • Participate in snagging, de-snagging, and close-out activities.
  • Assist in preparation and review of as-built drawings and O&M manuals.

D - Health & Safety:

• Ensure all mechanical works comply with project HSE plans.
  • Coordinate with HSE teams to ensure safe installation and operation of systems.
  • Ensure compliance with UAE Fire & Life Safety Code and Civil Defence requirements.

E - Coordination & Authorities:

• Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and suppliers.
  • Support submissions and approvals with relevant authorities (DM, DCD, DEWA, etc.).
  • Assist during authority inspections and handover processes.

F - BIM & Digital Coordination:

• Participate in BIM coordination and clash detection processes.
  • Use Navisworks and BIM platforms (BIM 360 / ACC) for coordination and issue resolution.

4 - Profile Specifications - Requirements:

Experience

• 10-15 years of experience in mechanical engineering
  • Experience in UAE or GCC projects
  • Aviation project experience preferred (terminals, hangars,)

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • UAE Society of Engineers membership preferred

Knowledge

Degree shall be eligible for MOE recognition as Engineering qualifications

• UAE authority requirements (DM, DCD, DEWA, etc.)
  • Mechanical systems: HVAC, firefighting, PHE
  • Basic understanding of aviation systems and requirements

Software Skills

• Revit (BIM), AutoCAD, Navisworks
  • Cooling load calculation tools (HAP, IES VE)
  • BIM platforms (BIM 360 / ACC)
