Senior Construction Supervisor - Mechanical, Structural & Piping
Contract Type
Initial 3-year contract: Doha-based initially, followed by relocation to Qingdao, China
Role Summary
The Senior Construction Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of mechanical, structural, and piping scopes across fabrication yards, offshore hook-up, and brownfield modification projects. The role ensures all construction activities are delivered in line with approved engineering designs, method statements, safety, quality, and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and supervise fabrication, offshore installation, and hook-up activities for structural, mechanical, and piping scopes
- Act as interface between project management, asset holders, contractors, and construction supervisors
- Ensure all construction activities follow approved method statements, project schedules, quality standards, and HSE requirements
- Participate in FEED and EPIC engineering workshops, including constructability reviews, SIMOPS, schedule risk analysis, 3D model reviews, HAZOP, HAZDEM, and lifting plan reviews
- Review, comment, and approve contractor deliverables in PDMS or similar platforms
- Monitor and report on contractor performance, manpower deployment, plant and equipment movements, and construction progress
- Act as construction risk management representative to identify risks, propose mitigation measures, and ensure implementation at site
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly construction progress reports and verify contractor progress statements
- Coordinate pre-commissioning, commissioning, and walk-through activities with contractors, vendors, and end users
- Maintain accurate records of daily progress and report anomalies or contractual deviations, recommending corrective actions
- Coordinate mobilisation and demobilisation of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors to offshore sites
- Participate in HSE walkthroughs, audits, and support ongoing improvement of safety, quality, and environmental compliance
- Support the development and enhancement of corporate standards, specifications, and guidelines
Candidate Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Diploma in Mechanical/Petroleum Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum 12 years of experience supervising offshore fabrication, hook-up, and brownfield modification projects
- Strong FEED and EPIC project experience with capability to review and approve contractor deliverables
- Excellent knowledge of industry engineering standards, quality control, HSE, and environmental requirements
- Proven ability to interpret method statements, inspection/test plans, construction schedules, and drawings
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing multinational, multi-disciplinary teams
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Computer literate with experience in project management and engineering software
