Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Construction Lead specialising in mechanical and piping disciplines to support a major international energy project. This role offers the chance to play a key part in large-scale fabrication and construction activities, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality project delivery.
You will be responsible for overseeing contractor execution, ensuring alignment across engineering, fabrication, and construction teams, and driving project performance across safety, quality, and schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead contractor activities to ensure safe and efficient delivery of mechanical and piping fabrication scopes
- Oversee fabrication, mechanical completion, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and contractual requirements
- Review engineering deliverables to confirm constructability and technical compliance
- Monitor progress, identify risks or delays, and implement corrective actions
- Review contractor reports and highlight performance gaps or concerns
- Coordinate closely with contractors and subcontractors to ensure alignment and effective communication
- Support risk assessments, technical reviews, and project meetings
- Ensure delivery of complete and accurate project documentation and handover dossiers
- Contribute to lessons learned and continuous improvement initiatives
Requirements
- Degree in Engineering or a related technical discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Proven experience in large-scale oil and gas or energy construction projects
- Strong background in mechanical and piping fabrication, installation, and commissioning
- Experience supervising contractors or managing vendor activities
- Good understanding of construction methods including welding, lifting, and mechanical testing
- Familiarity with international codes, standards, and safety regulations
- Knowledge of both onshore and offshore facilities or fabrication yard operations
- Experience working within complex, multi-disciplinary project environments
- Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills
