Construction Lead (HVAC) – Hook-Up & Commissioning (HUC)

Location: Offshore / Project-Based, QATAR
Reporting to: Head of Construction (Hook-Up)

About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Construction Commissioning Lead (HVAC) to provide leadership, oversight, and technical direction for Hook-Up and Commissioning (HUC) activities on a major energy project. This role is critical in ensuring that HVAC systems are delivered, installed, and commissioned in line with project specifications, safety standards, and quality expectations.
You will work closely with EPC contractors, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless execution across all project phases.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead HVAC Hook-Up and Commissioning (HUC) activities, providing oversight to contractors, subcontractors, and vendors.
• Act as the HVAC HUC focal point offshore, ensuring all commissioning and hook-up activities meet project requirements.
• Review and assess contractor documentation, technical proposals, and deviations to ensure compliance with project standards.
• Support EPC Project Management Teams (PMT) through participation in workshops, design reviews, and technical evaluations.
• Coordinate and drive timely delivery of HVAC discipline deliverables in line with project milestones.
• Provide technical expertise in HVAC systems, including commissioning, testing, and performance validation.
• Witness contractor activities, including inspections, testing, and commissioning, and sign off as required.
• Verify accuracy of contractor progress reports and ensure alignment with actual site progress.
• Contribute to quality audits, identify issues, and support implementation of corrective actions.
• Support supplier qualification processes for new or non-approved vendors.
• Monitor contractor manpower plans and provide recommendations to ensure adequate resource allocation.
• Promote application of lessons learned and continuous improvement across project execution.

Candidate Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Sciences.

Experience:

• Prior experience in construction-related roles within large-scale oil & gas or energy projects.
• Experience in a supervisory or oversight capacity.
• Strong experience in HVAC systems within large EPC projects.
• Proven experience in hook-up and commissioning phases, including completions and pre-startup activities.

Technical Expertise:

• Advanced knowledge of HVAC commissioning, testing, and balancing (TAB).
• Experience in performance testing of fans and air handling units.
• Strong understanding of refrigeration system commissioning and room integrity testing.
• Familiarity with F-Gas regulations.
• Experience working with major HVAC equipment suppliers (e.g., Carrier, Wozair).
• Solid understanding of industry codes, standards, and safety requirements.

Additional Knowledge:

• Experience with offshore and/or onshore facilities, including brownfield execution.
• Understanding of risks and execution strategies in LNG or sour gas environments.
• Ability to interface effectively with engineering, operations and construction teams
