Job Description

Overview

The Civil Engineering Departments within Candu Energy is engaged in nuclear civil engineering work involving structural analysis, civil design, ageing management to support the life extension, plant modification and service work of existing Nuclear Power Plants (NPPs) and New Builds. Civil/Structural engineers are required to perform structural and seismic analysis, seismic margin assessment, and structural design as well as prepare and issue analysis, design, and assessment documents.

Candu Energy Inc.is looking to hire multiple Civil/Structural engineers for full time term/permanent positions.

The types of engineering work include structural and seismic analysis, structural design check and assessment of structures, systems, and components. Documentation to be produced include analysis reports, design calculations, design Reports, technical specifications, and design requirements. The candidate should be familiar with the use of one analysis program such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, SAFE etc.

Your role

  • Perform structural analysis, seismic qualification, ageing management, and structural design for steel, reinforced concrete, and masonry systems.
  • Develop conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs, including engineering calculations, drawings, technical specifications, and complete engineering packages.
  • Analyze structural systems using industry software tools such as ANSYS, SAP2000, STAAD Pro, SSASI, and similar programs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, permit requirements, and company QA programs through checking and formal design reviews.
  • Lead and deliver engineering tasks within defined schedules and budgets, including participation in mandated design and change reviews.
  • Provide technical guidance, review work of junior staff and designers, and support design development through plant walkdowns as required.


About you

  • Civil Engineering degree from an accredited university with 8+ years of structural analysis and design experience in steel and concrete for nuclear power plants and/or industrial buildings; Master's degree is an asset.
  • Professional Engineering license recognized in Canada, preferably P.Eng. registered in Ontario.
  • Proven experience in static, dynamic, and seismic analysis of structures and foundations, supported by strong design-office and field exposure.
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian and international civil/structural codes and standards, nuclear safety regulations, QA guidelines, and plant modification processes (ECC or similar considered an asset).
  • Proficiency with structural analysis software such as STAAD Pro, SAP2000, ANSYS, SAFE, and related tools.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and interpersonal skills, ability to work under tight schedules and budgets, eligible for PWGSC security clearance, and willing to travel to client sites.
