JOB DESCRIPTION

Join us in shaping the future of energy

About the Role

Are you passionate about offshore engineering and ready to bring innovative thinking to complex challenges? At NOV Subsea Production Systems (SPS) in Brøndby, Copenhagen, Denmark, we are looking for a Senior Subsea Flexible Pipe Design Engineer to join our Pipe System Design department. In this role, you will play a key part in developing our core product-flexible pipe cross-sections-and take technical ownership of flexible pipe design activities across studies, tenders, projects, and after-sales work. You will lead complex engineering analyses, drive robust design decisions, and ensure that solutions are technically sound, manufacturable, compliant, and fit for offshore installation and operation.

You will join one of three international teams, contributing to projects that demand analytical rigor, multidisciplinary collaboration, and creative solutions. Your energy will help us power the industries that power the world.

About the Company

At NOV, we deliver safe, high-quality, technology-driven equipment, services, and support that are essential to the global energy industry. Our mission is simple: we power the industry that powers the world.

At NOV's business unit Subsea Production Systems (SPS) we empower the energy sector with passion, expertise, and forward-thinking solutions. We develop reliable and efficient subsea energy production products that enhance our customers' energy portfolios. With strong roots in the offshore oil and gas industry, we are also at the forefront of future technologies such as water treatment, ammonia storage, carbon injection, and wind energy-helping to reduce CO₂ emissions and drive the energy transition.

SPS is headquartered in Brøndby, Denmark, with production sites in Kalundborg (DK), Porto do Acu (Br), Glenrothes (UK) and offices in Stavanger and Oslo (No), Rio de Janeiro ( Br), and Houston (US). Globally, our team includes around 1,800 dedicated professionals, contributing to NOV's workforce of approximately 34,000 employees.

What We Offer

  • A dynamic, multicultural workplace

  • Competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package
  • 37-hour work week with flexible remote work options and overtime compensation
  • Exposure to international projects and occasional travel
  • A supportive environment with dedicated onboarding, mentorship, and training
  • A chance to see your designs realized in large-scale manufacturing at our Kalundborg site
  • Your energy matters and we make sure it is nurtured

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform complex design and analysis of flexible pipe systems and cross-sections, ensuring structural integrity, manufacturability, and compliance with project and client requirements
  • Own the technical scope for flexible pipe design work packages across studies, tenders, projects, and after-sales activities, acting as the technical focal point ensuring planning, execution, quality, and timely delivery
  • Drive technical decisions on design optimization, failure mode mitigation, non-conformity assessments, and risk reduction based on sound engineering judgement and documented evidence
  • Coordinate interfaces with project management, manufacturing, supply chain, verification bodies, and other engineering disciplines to secure coherent and practical design solutions
  • Review and verify calculations, models, reports, and design documentation within own discipline, ensuring adherence to internal methodologies, API and DNV standards, and client specifications
  • Lead or support design reviews, lessons learned, and improvement initiatives that strengthen tools, methods, quality, and efficiency within the Pipe System Design framework
  • Support business development and tender work by contributing technical input, feasibility evaluations, and clear definition of engineering scope, assumptions, and execution approach
  • Promote continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and a quality-focused engineering culture, while guiding and mentoring junior engineers through technical coaching, structured feedback, and day-to-day support on methods, tools, and engineering judgement

Qualifications & skills

Essential Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil/Structural Engineering, Materials Engineering, Naval Architecture, or a similar relevant discipline
  • You have at least 4 years of experience from a similar role, subsea, offshore, or closely related structural system design, with demonstrated senior-level contribution on project delivery
  • Strong experience in structural analysis, mechanics, fatigue assessment, and design evaluation for demanding operational and environmental conditions
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and own engineering scope, coordinate interfaces, and deliver high-quality technical documentation and recommendations
  • Good understanding of offshore industry standards and design codes, including API and DNV frameworks relevant to flexible pipe systems
  • Strong communication skills and confidence presenting technical conclusions to multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
  • Fluent in English, written and spoken

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience working with client specifications, design reviews, and third-party verification processes
  • Previous experience in multidisciplinary teams or international project environments
  • Fluent in Danish

If you are ready to take technical ownership, guide engineering decisions, support the development of others, and make a real impact on offshore projects, we encourage you to apply.
