Wood is currently sourcing for an Offshore Electrical Technician to join our team in Equatorial Guinea.
The Electrical Technician is responsible for the safe operation, maintenance, and fault‑finding of electrical systems onboard an FPSO vessel , ensuring compliance with HS&E standards, Permit to Work (PTW) requirements, and company and regulatory procedures. The role covers planned and unplanned maintenance, electrical isolations, inspections, and major overhauls of LV and HV equipment, including 6.6 kV systems.
The Electrical Technician also supports Process Safety Management (PSM) activities, maintains accurate maintenance records, ensures availability of critical spares, and provides on‑the‑job training to less experienced technicians and trainees.
Previous experience of working on an FPSO and strong electrical safety awareness are essential.
Location: offshore Equatorial Guinea, West Africa
Rotation Work Pattern: 5 weeks on 5 weeks off, 7-day week 12-hour day

RESPONSIBILITIES
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities:
- Ensuring the electrical distribution system is maintained and in a safe working condition, operated within the design parameters, and complies with Client and Company procedures and legislation
- Ensuring all electrical and instrument planned maintenance work is progressed and completed satisfactorily and recorded on the planned maintenance history records
- Ensuring the Electrical Isolation Authority is performing isolations as part of the Permit to Work (PTW) System
- Required to participate in Process Safety Management activities that involve process design, process technology, operational and maintenance activities and procedures, non-routine activities and procedures, emergency preparedness plans and procedures, training programs, and other elements which could impact the process.
- Certifications for high voltage power feeding, the HV net is 6.6 KV (6600 volts) on board FPSO
- Compilation of accurate reports of any work or incidents affecting instrument or electrical equipment
- Responsible for carrying out isolations in a competent manner, complying with Safety Management System and legislative requirements
- Carry out major services, overhauls and intrusive maintenance on vessel equipment.
- Carry out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all platform equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed promptly.
- Carry out inspections on all portable equipment and complete relevant paperwork.
- Ensure critical spares are available and any discrepancies are addressed
- Complete all planned and unplanned work activity to a satisfactory completion, in a safe and efficient manner. To this end the use of all available planning tools is vital
- Maintain a high degree of HS&E awareness
- Maintain plant equipment in accordance with procedures. Identify where and when possible PMR non compliances are occurring and implement corrective actions with a view to recovering the situation
- To provide OJT (On-the-Job Training) for less experienced technicians so they are fully supported in their assigned tasks and perform competency assessment assurance along with any National Trainees assigned within his areas of responsibility
- Ensuring a safe place of work by complying with Permit to Work (PTW) system and safe working procedure(s)
QUALIFICATIONS

Essential requirements for this role:
Education & Experience:
- Completed relevant training program and gained appropriate Technical qualifications
- Gained several years previous discipline experience in the oil and gas or equivalent industry
- Previous FPSO experience is essential
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:
- HV switchboard 6.6 KV and above
- MPP VSD familiarity (approx. 690V)
- Electrical switching/synchronization
Experience in High Voltage/Low Voltage
Experience with Solar Gas Turbine Generators
Oil / Gas Offshore production facilities experience required
Desirable:
- Marine background
- Fluent in English orally and written
