Senior Wellsite Geologist
Location: Offshore, Qatar
Contract: 12 months (renewable)
Rotation: Offshore rotation basis

Overview
An opportunity is available for an experienced Senior Wellsite Geologist to join offshore drilling operations on a major project in Qatar. This role is critical in delivering safe, efficient, and technically robust geological operations, supporting real-time decision-making and optimising well delivery.

You will act as the on-site geological authority, working closely with drilling, subsurface, and service teams to ensure accurate data acquisition, interpretation, and execution of the well programme.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as the primary geological representative at the wellsite
• Support real-time geosteering decisions in line with well objectives
• Supervise geological surveillance activities including mud logging, LWD, and sample analysis
• Interpret geological data and identify drilling hazards in real time
• Ensure quality, accuracy, and integrity of all geological data collected
• Maintain effective data transfer and communication between rig and onshore teams
• Coordinate with drilling, logging, and service company personnel
• Lead daily operational meetings and provide technical updates
• Support decision-making for well progression, including coring points and total depth
• Contribute to well reporting, post-well analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives
• Support onboarding and mentoring of junior wellsite geologists
• Ensure compliance with operational procedures and industry standards

Health, Safety and Compliance

• Promote and maintain a strong safety culture across offshore operations
• Participate in risk assessments, safety meetings, and incident reporting
• Identify and mitigate drilling and geological risks in real time
• Ensure all activities comply with HSE standards and regulatory requirements
• Support audits and safety reviews of service providers

Requirements

• Degree in Geosciences or a related discipline
• Minimum 7 years’ experience in operations geology
• At least 3 years in a Senior Wellsite Geologist role
• Strong experience in geosteering and real-time geological interpretation
• Solid understanding of drilling operations and well delivery processes
• Knowledge of petrophysics and reservoir evaluation techniques
• Experience working in offshore environments
• Strong communication and coordination skills across multidisciplinary teams
• High level of adaptability in operational environments
• Proficient in Microsoft Office

Certifications

• Valid offshore certification (e.g. BOSIET / HUET with CA-EBS)
• Relevant wellsite supervision or operations geology certification

Additional Information

• Experience with real-time data systems and geological software is advantageous
• Familiarity with industry-standard geosteering and interpretation tools is beneficial
• Strong focus on safety, data quality, and operational excellence
