QA/QC Inspector (Materials)

Location: China (Site Based)

Contract: Until December 2028

Work Pattern: 6 days per week

Overview

QA/QC Inspector required for a major oil and gas project in China. The role focuses on materials inspection, vendor quality assurance, and compliance across fabrication, construction, and installation activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming materials across structural, piping, pipeline, architectural, and mechanical disciplines
• Verify materials against purchase orders, vendor documentation, and project specifications
• Review material test certificates, inspection reports, and release documentation
• Ensure compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), procedures, and project quality requirements
• Monitor contractor, subcontractor, vendor, and third-party inspection activities
• Identify, record, and report non-conformances, deviations, and discrepancies
• Ensure proper quarantine and labelling of non-conforming materials
• Maintain material traceability, storage, and preservation requirements
• Witness mechanical and chemical testing at approved laboratories
• Perform and witness PMI and hardness testing for CRA and other materials
• Verify calibration of inspection and measuring equipment
• Review QC documentation including ITPs, method statements, and procedures
• Monitor contractor QC personnel competence and certification compliance
• Review Manufacturer Record Books (MRBs)
• Provide QA/QC input for daily and weekly reporting
• Participate in site quality meetings with contractors and client teams

Requirements

• Higher National Diploma (HND) or Diploma in Mechanical or Materials Engineering
• Minimum 10 years QA/QC inspection experience in oil and gas projects
• Minimum 5 years offshore project experience
• Strong experience across fabrication, construction, and installation phases
• Knowledge of materials including carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, Monel, Inconel, CRA, GRE/GRP, and CuNi
• Familiarity with material certification standards such as EN 10204
• Strong understanding of ISO 9001:2015 quality systems
• Knowledge of API, ASME, ASTM, EN, NACE, and ISO standards
• Strong documentation and reporting skills
• Experience working with contractors and vendors in large projects

Certifications (Preferred)

• AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.1
• ASNT Level II in NDT (VT, MT, PT, RT, UT)

Additional Information

• Experience in offshore and EPC oil and gas environments preferred
• Strong vendor inspection and fabrication experience advantageous
• Ability to work in multinational site teams
