Electrical & HVAC Commissioning Engineer - Uganda

We are supporting a major onshore energy development project in East Africa and are looking for an experienced Electrical & HVAC Commissioning Engineer to join the site team. This is a key role focused on delivering safe and efficient pre-commissioning and commissioning of electrical systems and HVAC infrastructure on a large-scale, technically complex development.  Reporting to the Commissioning Site Leader, you will oversee the preparation and execution of commissioning activities across electrical and HVAC systems, ensuring readiness for start-up and handover to operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Define subsystem boundaries and commissioning packages
• Oversee contractor preparation for pre-commissioning and commissioning activities
• Review and approve commissioning procedures and methodologies
• Ensure all activities are executed in line with project HSE standards
• Witness pre-commissioning and commissioning to achieve system completion
• Manage and control punch list activities, including sign-off
• Approve commissioning dossiers and system handover documentation
• Oversee HV & MV system commissioning and energisation activities
• Conduct site audits for safe commissioning of electrical systems
• Support FAT activities at vendor locations
• Coordinate HVAC commissioning across site
• Support training and handover to operations teams

Candidate Profile

• HND / Degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
• 10–12 years’ experience in commissioning within oil & gas or large-scale industrial projects
• Strong experience with:
  • HV & MV systems
  • Electrical equipment and interfaces
  • HVAC systems commissioning
• Proven experience in pre-commissioning, commissioning, and start-up
• Familiar with ICAPS or similar completion systems
• Strong contractor management and coordination skills
• Good understanding of multidisciplinary interfaces
• Fluent in English
