Process Engineer - SX, Leaching (12-Month Contract) Location: Karlsruhe, Germany (Candidates must be based locally or within commuting distance) Contract: 12-Month Contract (Potential to Convert to Permanent) Language Requirement: German (working proficiency required) Sector: Advanced Materials / Battery Recycling / Hydrometallurgy CSG are pleased to be supporting a client at the forefront of battery recycling and advanced process technology, seeking a Process Engineer to support commissioning and operational test campaigns at a newly developed plant in Karlsruhe. This is a hands on role in a live plant environment, bridging process development and commercial scale up. Key Responsibilities Execute commissioning and operational campaigns across backend processing circuits Support safe plant start up and shutdown activities Monitor and evaluate process performance vs design targets Conduct structured test-work, sampling, and data collection Perform mass balances and analyse extraction efficiencies Interpret process data to support optimisation and scale-up Prepare technical reports and document findings Ensure strict adherence to HSEQ standards Work closely with operations, R&D, and engineering teams Candidate Profile 2-5 years' experience as a Process or Metallurgical Engineer Background in pilot plant, commissioning, or test-work environments Strong analytical and problem solving capability Comfortable working hands on in an industrial plant setting Experience in hydrometallurgy, SX, or leaching processes preferred Ability to read P&IDs and process flowsheets German language skills required (minimum B2 level preferred) Must be based locally or willing to commute daily to Karlsruhe Qualifications Degree in Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related discipline Additional training in process safety or commissioning is advantageous Why Apply Work on cutting edge battery recycling technology Play a key role in scaling innovative processes Strong potential to transition into a permanent position
