Senior Commissioning Engineer

Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-17:00
Location: Field-based across the South East (including Kent and London)

Overview

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced fire systems professional to join a projects team in a senior commissioning capacity. This role is suited to someone who takes pride in delivering high-quality work, has strong technical expertise, and is confident operating independently on site.

The successful candidate will play a key role in commissioning fire system installations across a variety of projects, ensuring systems are delivered in line with industry standards and client expectations.
Key Responsibilities

• Independently commission fire detection and alarm systems to a high standard
• Work with both addressable and conventional systems across multiple manufacturers
• Interpret technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently on site
• Escalate project risks or issues in a timely manner
• Complete commissioning reports, handover documentation, and administrative records accurately
• Configure systems, test functionality, and verify cause-and-effect programming
• Provide support to wider engineering teams when required, including occasional callouts
• Identify potential system improvements or additional opportunities during site visits
• Work flexibly, including occasional out-of-hours or night work when necessary

Requirements

• Proven experience commissioning fire systems in line with relevant British/European standards and industry codes (e.g. BAFE/NSI)
• Strong knowledge of fire alarm systems and associated technologies
• Experience working with a range of system types and manufacturers
• Relevant industry training (e.g. FIA modules or equivalent)
• Solid understanding of compliance and regulatory requirements
• Ability to produce clear and accurate technical reports
• Strong skills in interpreting technical drawings and specifications
• Well-organised, proactive approach with high attention to detail
• Strong communication skills and a professional, customer-focused attitude
