Key responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to execute service work in accordance with ABB standard processes, quality standards, and safety guidelines. You will plan and execute work on a first-time right approach with customers, particularly within demanding maritime environments. You will also showcase your expertise by demonstrating a strong sense of urgency, technical precision, and customer focus in your area of responsibility.

This role is contributing to the Naval Converters Engineering team within Motion Business Area / Motion High Power Division in Germany. Main stakeholders are naval customers, the Naval Converter engineering team, product management as well as external partners and laboratories.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Planning, preparing and executing field service activities on naval converter systems, including diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and on-site technical support
• Supporting product qualification and testing activities in collaboration with internal teams, external partners, and laboratories
• Identifying improvement opportunities and customer pain points during service interactions, contributing to enhanced system performance and reliability
• Managing service preparation and execution, including materials, tools, logistics, and documentation to ensure first-time-right delivery
• Ensuring compliance with safety standards and proactively driving corrective actions to prevent equipment or process failures

You will join a highly skilled, collaborative, and internationally connected team, where you will be able to thrive and further develop your expertise in niche marine applications.

Qualifications for the role

• You are highly skilled in electrical engineering principles, power electronics, converter technologies and the marine / naval engineering market
• You have 3-5 years of experience in field service engineering and technical troubleshooting (working as Field Service Engineer with electrical converters or similar power electronic systems)
• You are highly adept in diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and technical documentation systems
• You are passionate about problem-solving and continuous improvement
• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• You are at ease communicating in English (fluent); German is a plus
• You hold current valid work authorization in Germany
