Senior Electrical Engineer (Operations & Start-Up)
Location: Onshore (Ras Laffan / Doha HQ), Qatar
Contract Duration: 2-year initial contract (extendable)
Work Schedule: 8–10 hours/day, Sunday to Thursday | 12 weeks on / 2 weeks off
Overview
An opportunity is available for a Senior Electrical Engineer to support major oil and gas project execution during EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases through to asset handover. This role focuses on ensuring electrical systems are safe, reliable, and fully aligned with operational requirements across the full project lifecycle.
You will provide technical leadership across electrical engineering activities, working closely with project teams, operations, and contractors in a high-performance environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide senior-level electrical engineering support across design, commissioning, start-up, and handover phases
- Review engineering designs, commissioning procedures, and technical documentation
- Support troubleshooting, failure analysis, punch list resolution, and warranty close-out activities
- Contribute to Management of Change (MoC) processes
- Support development and implementation of integrity and surveillance programmes for critical electrical systems
- Ensure reliability, availability, safety, and cybersecurity of electrical systems
- Provide technical input to multidisciplinary teams and project functions
- Supervise and review contractor, consultant, and vendor activities
- Support system tie-in activities and commissioning planning
- Maintain and manage technical issue registers and support resolution of critical engineering risks
- Assist in preparing handover documentation for operations teams
- Support high-risk commissioning and system optimisation activities
- Guide junior engineers and support knowledge transfer within the team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 6 years of experience in oil and gas or heavy industrial environments
- Strong experience in EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases
- Strong understanding of electrical systems reliability, integrity, and maintenance principles
- Ability to work under pressure and make decisions in complex environments
- Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Fluent written and spoken English
- Strong computer literacy and familiarity with engineering tools and systems
