Responsibilities

Design & Engineering
  • Review and consent to the design electrical power distribution systems (LV, MV, HV) for oil and gas installations.
  • Review the developed single - line diagrams (SLDs), load lists, cable schedules, grounding and lighting layouts.
  • Review and approve the selected electrical equipment including transformers, switchgear, MCCs, UPS, batteries, and motors.
  • Perform electrical system studies (load flow, short circuit, arc flash, protection coordination).
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards (IEC, NEC, IEEE, API, NEMA, ATEX).

Project Execution & Procurement
  • Review and approve vendor documents and technical specifications.
  • Prepare Material Requisitions (MRs), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBEs), and equipment datasheets.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, procurement, and construction teams to ensure design integration.

Construction & Commissioning
  • Supervise installation of electrical systems and ensure compliance with approved designs and standards.
  • Conduct inspection, testing, and pre - commissioning of electrical equipment.
  • Participate in FATs (Factory Acceptance Tests) and SATs (Site Acceptance Tests).
  • Troubleshoot issues during installation and commissioning phases.

Operations & Maintenance
  • Support operations teams in troubleshooting and maintaining electrical systems.
  • Review condition monitoring data (e.g., IR thermography, insulation resistance tests).
  • Participate in root cause analysis for electrical failures.
  • Ensure asset integrity and optimize electrical system performance over the asset lifecycle.


Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university
  • Work experience of five (5) years in the sought discipline after earning the university degree
  • Excellent spoken and written English including proven ability to write reports
  • In - depth knowledge of electrical design for oil & gas environments (onshore/offshore).
  • Familiarity with hazardous area classification and equipment selection.
  • Experience with electrical system modeling software (ETAP, SKM, DigSILENT).
  • Understanding of electrical protection systems, earthing, lighting, and lightning protection.
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and communication skills.
