An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Lead Project Engineer to join one of the UK's largest renewable energy and electricity network developers. This organisation is responsible for planning, designing and delivering nationally significant transmission infrastructure across the north of the UK. Their projects span onshore substations, overhead lines, underground cables and grid reinforcements that enable the transition to a low-carbon future. This is a remote role.

In this role, you will play a pivotal part in driving engineering governance, design coordination and technical assurance across complex, multi-disciplinary capital projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate engineering inputs and outputs across optioneering, early design and delivery phases.
  
• Chair regular engineering design meetings to drive progress and support collaboration between disciplines.
  
• Lead engineering risk meetings, identifying and managing technical and quality risks and opportunities.
  
• Drive design maturity, ensuring scope is delivered to the required quality and programme, including providing programme input.
  
• Ensure compliance with all relevant specifications and policies; where compliance is not achievable, support resolution through the Deviation from Specification process.
  
• Manage design changes in line with the change control process, preparing required documentation and approvals.
  
• Coordinate engineering disciplines to complete deliverables at key project gates.
  
• Lead information gathering for Works Information (WI) packages.
  
• Manage the Technical Query (TQ) register throughout delivery.
  
• Ensure all contractor deliverables are reviewed, commented on and signed off in line with governance.
  
• Lead and coordinate all engineering tasks required at each Gate under Large Capital Projects Governance, including:
  
  • Site visits
    
  • Senior Reviews
    
  • Operational Engagement
    
  • HAZID / HAZOP / HAZCON
    
  • Design Authority Review & Technical Authority Review
    
• Prepare key gate documentation including the Design Management Plan, Design Risk Management Index (DRMI) and Design Authority Report.
  
• Escalate engineering decisions, risks and issues to Senior Engineers and Engineering Managers.
  
• Support Project Assurance Reviews (PAR) by submitting required documentation and responding to feedback.
