Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Location: Doha, Qatar

Overview
An established engineering services provider supporting the global energy sector is seeking a Senior Telecommunications Engineer to lead telecom engineering activities on major oil and gas projects. This role involves full responsibility for discipline deliverables, technical coordination, and schedule management across design and EPC phases.

The Role
You will act as the lead telecommunications engineer on assigned projects, providing technical oversight, coordinating multidisciplinary teams, and ensuring delivery aligns with project requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review telecom engineering specifications and design deliverables
• Develop and review requisitions for complex equipment, materials, and subcontracts
• Conduct technical bid evaluations and support vendor selection
• Perform technical reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance of design outputs
• Plan, schedule, and coordinate telecom engineering activities across projects
• Ensure compliance with industry codes, standards, and project requirements
• Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and maintain clear communication
• Lead progress meetings and resolve technical issues
• Support or witness factory acceptance tests for telecom systems
• Liaise with client representatives and participate in technical meetings
• Prepare progress reports, cost and resource estimates, and support proposals
• Support site activities and commissioning phases when required

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Telecommunications Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in oil and gas projects
• Strong knowledge of industry standards, codes, and engineering practices
• Experience working in engineering design and EPC project environments
• Familiarity with engineering systems and tools
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Qatar engineering certification (MME, MMUP, or UPDA) required
• EIT or PE certification preferred
