In what environment will you work as a Process Safety Engineer (H/F)?

We are currently looking on behalf of one of our clients, a leading chemical and pharmaceutical company, for a Process Safety Engineer (H/F), based in Switzerland for a duration of 6 months, renewable.

Mission context

As part of industrial operations and projects on site, the Process Safety Engineer (H/F) will ensure process risk management and compliance of installations with regulatory requirements and group safety standards.

Process Safety Engineer (H/F): What will be your roles and responsibilities?

Main mission

In collaboration with Production, Maintenance, Engineering and HSE teams, you will manage and monitor process safety activities in order to prevent major industrial risks and improve site process safety performance.

Main activities

• Perform and update process risk assessments (HAZOP, What-If, LOPA, etc.)
• Implement and follow process safety standards
• Participate in design reviews and investment projects
• Contribute to Management of Change (MOC) activities
• Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams on process safety topics
• Participate in audits, regulatory inspections and safety studies
• Contribute to ATEX and explosion protection studies
• Train and raise awareness among personnel on process safety best practices
• Coordinate with HSE, Engineering teams and local authorities

What profile and skills are required for this Process Safety Engineer (H/F) position?

Education & experience

• Master's degree in chemistry, chemical engineering or equivalent
• Additional training in process safety appreciated (SPIEQ or equivalent)
• Minimum 5 years of experience in process safety within chemical or pharmaceutical environments
• Proven experience in process safety studies
• Professional technical English required

Technical skills

• Strong knowledge of HAZOP, LOPA, SIL and ATEX methodologies
• Good understanding of international Process Safety standards (API, CCPS, IEC 61511, SEVESO, etc.)
• Ability to read and understand P&ID and process diagrams
• Process deviation analysis and industrial risk management
• Ability to analyze complex technical data
