EngineeringWe are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineering Teacher to deliver high-quality teaching across T Level Mechanical Engineering programmes to 16-18 learners. You will cover core engineering principles alongside practical, industry-relevant applications within workshop and classroom settings. Applicants must hold relevant academic qualifications and bring strong, current industry experience. Practical expertise should include milling, turning, CNC machining, CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, and general workshop hand skills. A recognised teaching qualification is essential, or a willingness to achieve one within two years. This role offers the opportunity to prepare learners for progression into skilled employment and higher-level engineering pathways.
This opportunity is based at our Openshaw Campus to join the Automotive, Construction, Engineering and Logistics Department as T-Level Mechanical Engineering Teacher on a permanent, full-time (35 hours per week) basis.

Role Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment across programmes, using well-planned lessons, resources and technology to support learner progress.
- Plan, assess and provide meaningful feedback, ensuring learning outcomes are met and students know how to develop further.
- Support learners' progress and wellbeing by working collaboratively with tutors and support staff to meet diverse learner needs.
- Maintain accurate records and meet quality standards, including registers, assessment records, quality assurance processes and compliance with college policies.
Essential Skills, Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate of education or PGCE.
- Current and valid industry specialism.
- Assessor qualifications (if required by Awarding Organisation).
- Minimum Level 3 occupational qualification.
- English and maths minimum level 2 Grace C or grade 4 and above.
- Strong industry experience in mechanical engineering/manufacturing.
- Proficiency in milling, turning, and CNC machining.
- Experience using CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor.
- Ability to demonstrate and supervise safe workshop practices.
- Confidence in delivering engineering principles and technical calculations.
- Ability to integrate theory with practical applications.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Experience supporting learners in achieving T Level outcomes.
