Dredge Electrician
Responsibilities
- Carry out maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems onboard the dredger.
- Ensure smooth operation of dredging electrical equipment, motors, generators, switchboards, and MCC panels.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical and automation systems.
- Attend electrical breakdowns related to dredge pumps, winches, hydraulic systems, and propulsion equipment.
- Monitor generator performance, power distribution systems, and electrical safety devices.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, circuit diagrams, and technical manuals.
- Maintain lighting systems, navigation lights, alarm systems, and communication equipment onboard.
- Assist in troubleshooting PLC, sensor, and instrumentation-related faults.
- Ensure compliance with vessel safety procedures, lockout/tagout practices, and marine electrical standards.
- Maintain records of maintenance activities, spare parts usage, and electrical inspections.
- Coordinate with Chief Engineer and technical team during dry docking and repair activities.
- Conduct routine insulation checks, cable inspections, and testing of electrical equipment.
- Support emergency repairs during dredging operations to minimize downtime.
- Ensure proper housekeeping of electrical workshop, tools, and spare inventory onboard.
- Follow company HSE policies and international maritime safety regulations during all electrical works.
Qualifications
Diploma in Electrical Engineering
5-10 years' experience as electrician in Marine/Dredging Industry.
