Overview

PM Group have a great opportunity as Mechanical Commissioning Engineer for a major hyperscale data centre development in Frankfurt, Germany.

The project includes two mission critical data centre facilities with a combined IT capacity exceeding 50MW, together with associated HV utility infrastructure and critical support systems. Delivered to Tier III concurrently maintainable standards, the project incorporates advanced electrical, mechanical, controls, and sustainability-focused infrastructure.

This is a long-term opportunity to work within a fast-paced hyperscale environment alongside international contractors, vendors, and specialist stakeholders on one of Europe's major mission critical developments.

Responsibilities

Your role
  • Support commissioning activities associated with critical cooling and mechanical systems including chilled water systems, CRAHs, fan walls, ventilation systems, and associated plant infrastructure.
  • Review and witness Level 1 through Level 3 commissioning activities in accordance with project requirements.
  • Participate in First of a Kind inspections, documentation reviews, and system readiness assessments.
  • Support execution of Level 4 and Level 5 testing activities and integrated systems testing scenarios.
  • Coordinate with contractors, vendors, controls teams, and electrical teams during testing and issue resolution.
  • Assist with system turnover, commissioning reporting, and closeout documentation.
  • Support commissioning activities associated with monitoring-based commissioning, energy efficiency verification, liquid cooling infrastructure, and heat recovery systems where applicable.

Qualifications

Your profile
  • Degree or technical qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience commissioning mechanical systems within mission critical or industrial facilities.
  • Strong understanding of chilled water systems, HVAC controls, critical cooling infrastructure, and data centre environmental requirements.
  • Experience with high-density data centre cooling systems and liquid cooling infrastructure desirable.
  • Experience supporting heat recovery systems, district heating integration, or energy reuse strategies desirable.
  • Experience supporting LEED commissioning and sustainability-focused commissioning activities preferred.
  • Experience using digital commissioning management systems and Common Data Environments preferred.
  • Strong communication and coordination skills.
  • Fluent English required. German language capability desirable.
