About the Opportunity
A major LNG expansion project is seeking an experienced Project Manager - China Fabrication to lead fabrication and construction activities across fabrication yards in China supporting offshore production facilities.
This senior leadership role will oversee fabrication execution, construction management, safety, quality, mechanical completion and contractor coordination activities through to sailaway. The successful candidate will act as the in-country project focal point, ensuring delivery objectives are achieved safely, on schedule and in compliance with project requirements.
The role offers the opportunity to support one of the largest offshore energy developments in the region while working closely with international contractors, fabrication yards and multidisciplinary project teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all fabrication site activities across assigned fabrication yards in China
- Act as the primary site focal point for project execution, construction management and stakeholder coordination
- Ensure fabrication, construction and loadout activities are completed safely, efficiently and in accordance with approved scope and schedule
- Lead multidisciplinary site teams including HSE, Quality, Mechanical Completion and Commissioning personnel
- Manage contractor and subcontractor activities to ensure compliance with contractual and technical requirements
- Coordinate site mobilization, demobilization and workforce planning activities
- Review and approve fabrication execution plans, construction procedures and contractor documentation
- Monitor fabrication progress, construction schedules and reporting activities
- Lead risk management, forecasting and project performance reviews
- Review fabrication changes and assess schedule and cost impacts
- Support monthly progress reporting and contractor invoice review activities
- Coordinate technical interfaces between construction, engineering, quality, planning and commissioning teams
- Organize project briefings, training sessions and team coordination activities
- Promote strong safety culture and ensure compliance with HSE requirements across all site activities
- Maintain lessons learned records and support development of junior project personnel
Requirements
- Bachelor degree in Engineering, Science or related discipline
- Minimum 15 years of experience across project management, engineering, construction and procurement within the oil and gas industry
- Minimum 5 years of leadership experience on major oil and gas projects
- Strong experience managing EPC contractors, subcontractors and fabrication yard activities
- Previous experience supporting offshore production facility fabrication projects
- Experience working with fabrication yards in China is highly preferred
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, construction, mechanical completion and commissioning activities
- Experience managing multicultural project teams and international contractors
- Strong communication, leadership and stakeholder management skills
- Good understanding of industry standards, offshore construction practices and project delivery methodologies
- Strong computer literacy and experience using project management and reporting systems
- Fluent written and spoken English required
