The post holder will work as part of a dedicated, multidisciplinary project team established to deliver the Lynfield Mount Hospital Redevelopment Programme, providing senior mechanical and electrical engineering leadership and assurance across all stages of the project lifecycle.
Appointed on a 2-year fixed-term basis, the role will ensure that all Mechanical and Electrical design, construction, commissioning and handover activities associated with the Lynfield Mount Hospital Redevelopment Programme are undertaken in full compliance with statutory requirements, NHS guidance (including HTMs and HBNs), Trust policies and best practice.
The role requires a high degree of professional autonomy, acting as a senior technical authority for the discipline and providing expert advice, assurance and leadership to the Project Team, Estates and Facilities colleagues, clinical stakeholders and external consultants and contractors.

Main duties of the job
Duties of the post-holder will include:
Provide senior mechanical and electrical engineering leadership for the Lynfield Mount Hospital Redevelopment.
Act as Authorised Person (AP) for relevant engineering systems, or work towards AP appointment within an agreed timeframe, in line with Trust governance arrangements
Act as a senior technical authority, providing expert advice and assurance on engineering matters.
Review, comment on and approve engineering designs, specifications and technical submissions.
Support design risk management, ensuring risks are eliminated or reduced so far as reasonably practicable.
Oversee commissioning, testing and handover of engineering systems, ensuring safe transition to operational use.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, NHS HTMs, HBNs, BS legislation, CIBSE guidance and Trust policies.
Ensure compliance with statutory health and safety policy documentation and the compliance with CDM Regulations and enforce as necessary, compliance by contractors undertaking work on Trust premises
Contribute to engineering governance, audits, inspections and assurance reporting.
Support the control and management of high risk engineering systems in accordance with Authorised Person responsibilities.
Provide technical oversight of external consultants and contractors.
