WGM Engineering, part of RSK Group, is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to join our E&M Services team on a permanent, full-time basis. This role will be based from Glasgow and will be split between Site/Office/Home working supporting mechanical maintenance, refurbishment, installation, testing and pre-commissioning works across Scottish Water and private client sites.

This is a hands-on opportunity to join a growing engineering business delivering essential infrastructure across the water sector. You'll work on a varied range of mechanical equipment, supporting planned maintenance, emergency breakdown response, refurbishment activity and new installation works.

The Role

As Mechanical Engineer, you will deliver mechanical maintenance, repair, refurbishment and installation works across a range of client sites. You will diagnose faults, identify repair requirements, support site surveys, carry out quality checks and help return equipment safely and efficiently to working order.

The role will suit someone with strong mechanical fitting experience who enjoys practical problem-solving, working safely on site, supporting clients and being part of a team that takes ownership for getting the job done properly.

What you'll be doing:
  • Maintaining, repairing, refurbishing and installing mechanical equipment across Scottish Water and private client sites.
  • Fault-finding mechanical breakdowns, identifying root causes and supporting safe, effective repairs.
  • Carrying out site surveys, identifying equipment, producing reports and detailing the methods, materials and components required for repair or installation works.
  • Organising and supporting site service works, liaising with Project Engineers, Foremen, Planners, client site teams and wider WGM colleagues.
  • Assembling, testing, inspecting and recording results to support quality, compliance and commissioning activity.
  • Supporting the development of maintenance strategies, installation guidance and commissioning requirements.
  • Controlling tools, stores, equipment and materials in vehicles and on site.
  • Using computerised systems to support routine maintenance, repair planning and work records.
  • Taking an active role in risk assessments, COSHH assessments, RAMS and daily task-specific risk assessments.
  • Responding to emergency breakdowns and supporting efficient solutions to return plant and equipment to service.
  • Training towards, and where appropriate carrying out, Competent Person duties in line with Electrical Safety Rules and Isolation Safety Rules.

What you'll bring:
  • A recognised mechanical fitting qualification or equivalent practical mechanical engineering experience.
  • Experience maintaining, repairing, refurbishing or installing mechanical equipment in an industrial, utilities, water, wastewater, manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Strong fault-finding skills and the ability to diagnose mechanical breakdowns safely and effectively.
  • Good understanding of site-based working, planned maintenance, reactive repairs and quality inspection.
  • Ability to interpret RAMS, complete daily risk assessments and work in line with health, safety, environmental and quality requirements.
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to work well with colleagues, project teams, planners, supervisors and client site teams.
  • A practical, solutions-focused approach and the ability to work safely as part of a team.
