The Systems Administrator manages, maintains, and enhances the data processing environment at the SLB Houston Hub Data Center and associated cloud environments, providing system, software, application and operational support. The Primary OS used across platforms is Linux. This system administration role incorporates system installation, hardware, VM and software troubleshooting/maintenance, participation in on-call duties, and liaising with customers and vendors. There are no travel requirements or supervisory responsibilities with this position.
He/She must be able to think creatively and logically to find solutions and have well-developed planning and organization skills, be self-motivated, and able to work with minimum direction. He/She must be able to work in a team-oriented, collaborative environment and be willing to train others.
Roles and Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all HPC systems are available, meeting all objective targets and configuration standards.
• Perform necessary hardware, VM, OS and software maintenance. Testing supported systems and performing basic engineering tasks as needed on those systems.
• Conform to the Change Management policies and communicate all changes.
• Open vendor service calls and handling warranty replacements.
• Working with ticketing systems and resolve issues within deadline, documenting solutions.
• Follow QHSE procedures.
• Participate in the on-call rotation providing 24x7x365 support and be prepared to work outside of normal hours for some maintenance work as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience:
• Degree or Diploma in Engineering or Computer Science.
• Three years hands-on Linux system administration experience in either cloud or prem, being proficient in the administration of Linux based operating systems, provisioning and maintenance.
• Experience with computer hardware including servers, disk arrays, tape drives, robotic tape libraries, and GPU.
• Experience with networking and system configuration for Ethernet, InfiniBand, and Fibre Channel SAN.
• Experience with Lustre based storage systems and data management software configuration and operation.
• Current industry recognized certification, e.g. Cisco, RHCSA or RHCE.
• Willing to learn basic understanding of bespoke SLB Omega2 application and related software.
• Able to compose and troubleshoot Bourne, Bash, C Shell, Perl & Python scripts.
• Ability to lift and install computer equipment.
• Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills
