Role Purpose
  • Provide senior technical leadership and discipline authority for piping material engineering, ensuring safe, code-compliant, economical and fully specified material selections for project execution.Lead and coordinate piping material engineering activities across the full project lifecycle (Concept/FEED,
  • Detailed Engineering, Procurement support, Construction support and Commissioning) in an EPC/EPCM environment.
  • Own technical integrity for piping materials deliverables including piping material specifications, line classes, valve and special item datasheets, MTO, material requisitions, technical bid evaluations, vendor document review and material traceability throughout EPC execution.

Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
1) HSE, SEAL & Safety in Design
  • Demonstrate visible and active commitment to HSE leadership on projects; promote safe behaviours and ensure discipline compliance with project and corporate requirements.
  • Drive Safe and Sustainable Engineering outcomes by participating in SEAL alignment and hazard/risk assessment workshops; ensure piping inputs support safe operability and lifecycle thinking.
  • Apply Safety in Design principles (ALARP / hierarchy of controls) within piping engineering and ensure hazards/risks are identified, documented and managed through design and reviews.
2) Discipline Leadership, Planning & Delivery
  • Plan, organize and manage all aspects of piping engineering workload for one major project or multiple projects concurrently.
  • Establish and maintain discipline deliverables register; control, monitor and progress deliverables to agreed schedule; provide timely status reporting.
  • Manage resource requirements for piping (including dedicated stress and materials resources); coordinate staffing and skills needs with engineering/discipline management.
  • Coach, mentor and technically supervise assigned engineers/designers; provide technical escalation, capability development and effective supervision.
  • Ensure communication flow, both verbal and written, is maintained within piping and with other engineering disciplines.
3) Technical Authority - Piping Materials Engineering (Primary Focus)
  • Lead development, review and governance of Piping Material Specifications (PMS), line class index and associated project material specifications in line with process, mechanical and corrosion requirements.
  • Oversee preparation, checking and approval of valve, flange, fitting and specialty item datasheets and specifications; manage technical queries, deviations and compliance reviews.
  • Prepare and/or review Material Requisitions (MR), Technical Bid Evaluations (TBE), bid clarifications and technical recommendations for piping bulk materials, valves and specialty items.
  • Control piping material take-off (MTO) quality, completeness and change management to support procurement, construction and cost control requirements.
  • Coordinate with procurement, expediting, QA/QC, vendors and site teams on material availability, substitutions, inspection requirements, certification and traceability documentation.
  • Provide technical support for material selection related to service conditions such as corrosion, erosion, temperature, pressure, sour service and project-specific operating requirements.
  • Support construction and commissioning by resolving material-related issues, reviewing substitutions, addressing shortages and ensuring timely close-out of outstanding technical matters.
4) Procurement, Vendor Coordination & Material Control
  • Interface closely with procurement teams to align technical requirements with purchasing strategy, supplier qualification and bid package readiness.
  • Review vendor offers, technical deviations, compliance statements and documentation to ensure adherence to project specifications, codes and client requirements.
  • Monitor critical material status, long lead items and supplier data submission schedules to support overall EPC project delivery milestones.
  • Support inspection, testing and release activities by ensuring technical documentation, certificates, ITP requirements and material records are complete and acceptable.
  • Manage material substitutions, concession requests and site technical clarifications with proper evaluation of quality, cost, schedule and client approval impacts.
  • Provide oversight on material control processes from engineering issue through site receipt, preservation, issuance, reconciliation and project close-out.
5) Piping Engineering & Layout (Secondary Focus)
  • Provide input to piping design basis / design criteria and plant layout requirements; ensure routing and arrangement support stress and materials integrity.
  • Coordinate piping design activities with other engineering groups; participate in design reviews (P&ID, plot plan, 3D model, constructability) and drive issue closure.
  • Oversee and/or approve key piping deliverables such as GA drawings, isometrics, tie-in lists, line/service index and related registers as required by project scope.
6) Quality, Governance & Change Management
  • Implement and enforce quality checking procedures; ensure deliverables are produced, checked and issued per project and corporate procedures.
  • Identify deviations in job scope, estimate impacts and initiate variations/change notices; support scope, cost and schedule impact assessments.
  • Promote consistent application of company engineering governance and templates ("Working the Worley Way").
7) Client, Supplier & Stakeholder Interface
  • Represent piping engineering in meetings with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and other disciplines; produce required documentation (minutes, actions, technical notes).
  • Act as technical focal point for stress and materials topics; communicate decisions, risks and mitigations clearly to stakeholders.
  • Support proposals by providing stress and materials execution strategy inputs, estimating inputs and discipline write-ups as required.

  • Recognized technical authority in piping material engineering, material selection, line classes and procurement support.
  • Strong EPC/EPCM project execution mindset: planning, progress control, risk management, procurement coordination, scope control and change management.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and communication skills; capable of leading multi-discipline interfaces.
  • Commercial awareness for procurement, vendor management and material control; ability to balance technical integrity, cost and schedule.
  • Commitment to safety, quality and safe/sustainable engineering outcomes.
  • Strong team building and team development skills.
Preferred / Advantageous
  • ADNOC (Onshore/Offshore) standards and delivery exposure.
  • Familiarity with Worley systems, templates and governance requirements.
  • GCC / Middle East project experience.
  • Offshore exposure is beneficial but not mandatory.
