Wood is recruiting for an Electrical & Instrument Student placement. Our 8-week Summer Internship will place you in one of our ongoing projects delivering Electrical and Instrumentation & Control Engineering scopes.
RESPONSIBILITIES
You will be involved in a range of activities including:
You will help implement projects in line with company procedures and international engineering standards.
You will also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using your Electrical & Instrumentation engineering knowledge to support the delivery of energy projects for our customers.
Throughout the placement, you will be supported by experienced engineers, subject matter experts, Electrical & Instrument specialists, and the Head of Discipline. You will also have access to the early careers network and graduate engineers across the business.
This is an opportunity to gain real project experience while developing critical Electrical & Instrumentation skills that will support a successful engineering career.

- Developing electrical and instrument specifications
- Supporting generation of instrument input/output schedules
- Assisting with electrical system documentation and design inputs
- Writing scopes of work for control system or electrical modifications
- Interpreting electrical and instrumentation construction drawings
You will help implement projects in line with company procedures and international engineering standards.
You will also work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, using your Electrical & Instrumentation engineering knowledge to support the delivery of energy projects for our customers.

QUALIFICATIONS
Qualifications
- Currently a penultimate-year MEng student or a final-year BEng student planning to complete a MEng or MSc in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Electrical & Electronic Engineering
- Expected to achieve a 1st or 2:1 degree in a relevant discipline, accredited by the appropriate engineering institution
- Available full-time for the 8-week placement
- Intending to start a graduate career in 2026
Knowledge of
- Awareness of the Energy sector (Oil & Gas, Petrochemical, etc.)
Experience of
- Operations or practical work (academic or industrial)
- Continuous learning and development
