Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (OES)
Working Location: Doha/Ras Laffan, Qatar (Onshore)
Contract Type: 24 months (with possibility of extension)
Work Schedule:
- Work hours per day: 8-10 hours
- Work days per week: 5 days (Sunday to Thursday)
Leave Rotation:
- Single status: 12 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation
- Married status: Residential
Estimated Start Date: ASAP
Key Responsibilities:
- Advise and support Mechanical Engineering activities (piping, pressure vessels, heat exchangers, packaged equipment) for onshore and offshore facilities during EPC and Start-up phases until handover to permanent Asset, ensuring project deliverables meet Operations expectations in Safety, Operability, Reliability, and Maintainability.
- Influence project decisions considering both CAPEX and OPEX over the project life cycle.
- Ensure compliance with relevant specifications, processes, and procedures for assigned projects.
- Participate in reviews and provide technical inputs to designs and procedures for field operations, and mitigate risks introduced by new technology.
- Provide all aspects of Mechanical Engineering support, including design reviews, commissioning, start-up, failure analysis, troubleshooting, and developing work packs for maintenance-executed modifications.
- Define and document best practices and recommend performance improvement initiatives.
- Provide technical input to other disciplines and functions to support overall business objectives.
- Identify and resolve plant problems concerning static equipment and piping, covering degradation, failure, and equipment malfunction.
- Control and supervise activities of contractors, consultants, and service providers.
- Guide less experienced engineers in implementing integrity and reliability systems.
- Support and facilitate smooth completion of project tie-in requirements for assigned systems.
- Maintain Issue Register for critical issues and new technology risks impacting project Reliability and Availability.
- Provide Management of Change technical support to assigned Assets, identifying timely solutions to sustain Asset Integrity and Reliability.
- Participate in Safety Workshops, Cold Eye Reviews, Value Improvement Workshops, Root Cause Failure Analysis, risk assessments, and scenario-based risk screenings.
Requirements:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
Knowledge and/or Experience
- Minimum 6 years' experience in an oil and gas environment.
- Senior Engineer level of competencies as per Mechanical Technical Competencies.
- Proficient in design calculation/verification with software such as PV Elite, CAESAR II, Nozzle Pro.
Technical and Business Skills
- Strong engineering judgment and understanding of pressure vessel repair and alterations in compliance with NBIC.
- Able to work and make decisions under pressure.
- Fluent in written and spoken English.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Computer literate, with regular use of professional office and technical applications.
