Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer (Building Projects) - UPDA Certified

Location: Qatar

Department: MEP / Electrical Design

Experience Required: Minimum 10 years (Qatar experience mandatory)

1. Purpose of the Role

To design, develop, and coordinate electrical systems for building projects, ensuring compliance with project specifications, Qatar regulations, and international standards, while delivering efficient and sustainable design solutions.

2. Key Responsibilities

A. Electrical Design

• Prepare and develop electrical design calculations and drawings:
  • Load calculations
  • Lighting design
  • Power distribution systems
  • Earthing & lightning protection
  • Single Line Diagrams (SLD)
• Design ELV systems (Fire Alarm, Data, CCTV, Access Control, etc.)
• Ensure optimized and cost-effective design solutions

B. Design Coordination

• Coordinate with architectural, structural, and MEP disciplines
• Resolve design clashes using BIM tools (Revit/Navisworks)
• Review and validate design deliverables from other stakeholders

C. Authority Approvals

• Manage and coordinate submissions with authorities such as:
  • Kahramaa
  • Civil Defence Qatar
• Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and local regulations
• Follow up on approvals, NOCs, and permits

D. Documentation & Review

• Review shop drawings, material submittal, and technical documents
• Prepare design reports, specifications, and BOQs
• Ensure proper documentation control and version management

E. Construction Support

• Provide technical support during construction and site execution
• Respond to RFIs and resolve technical issues
• Participate in testing & commissioning activities

Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 10 years of experience in electrical design
• UPDA/MMUP Certification (Mandatory)
• Qatar experience required, preferably in consultancy
• Experience in building projects (residential, commercial, mixed-use)

Skills & Competencies

• Strong knowledge of electrical design standards (IEC, BS, NFPA)
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, Dialux/Relux/ETAP
• Familiarity with Qatar authority regulations
• Strong coordination and communication skills
• Ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple projects
