Our mission is to act as a strategic and reliable ally for our clients, connecting exceptional talent with transformative opportunities and optimizing their operations.
  • Location: Dubai UAE

About the Role:

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to play a critical role in both gas flaring reduction and petrochemical optimization projects in the dynamic energy landscape. This position offers a unique opportunity to drive environmental sustainability and operational excellence in the region's thriving petrochemical industry. You will lead technical aspects of projects from inception to completion, ensuring optimal design, efficient operations, and adherence to stringent safety and environmental standards.

Responsibilities:
  • Conduct site-specific assessments of gas processing plants to identify flaring sources, quantify emissions, and develop tailored reduction strategies.
  • Design and implement advanced engineering solutions for gas capture and reuse, incorporating state-of-the-art technologies and best practices.
  • Analyze existing processes and recommend data-driven improvements to enhance efficiency, minimize waste, and reduce flaring, considering the unique operational conditions of Iraqi facilities.
  • Provide expert mechanical engineering guidance on technical feasibility, safety, and cost-effectiveness of proposed solutions, ensuring alignment with Iraqi regulations and standards.

Petrochemical Optimization:
  • Participate in flawless project delivery, startup, and operation of refinery and petrochemical units, contributing to operational readiness, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities.
  • Provide technical support for Performance Acceptance Tests (PAT), Reliability Availability Maintainability (RAM) studies, and process optimization initiatives, fostering synergy between refinery and petrochemical operations.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance plant availability, reduce operating and maintenance costs, and integrate new technologies to improve overall performance.
  • Conduct detailed design reviews, assessments, and technology evaluations for piping, mechanical, and rotating equipment systems, ensuring optimal design and functionality.
  • Review and update redline drawings, technical documentation, and maintenance procedures to ensure accuracy and compliance with industry standards.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develop coherent piping, mechanical, and rotating equipment data sheets, inspection test protocols, installation procedures, and spare part philosophies.
  • Provide technical input to LP and economic modeling, capital efficiency assessments, and financial model analysis for long-term capital (LTC) projects.
  • Participate in HAZOP, SIL studies, and HSSE reviews to ensure the safety and integrity of projects.
  • Liaise with equipment vendors to resolve issues and introduce new technologies, ensuring seamless integration and optimal performance.
  • Develop maintenance philosophies, spare part catalogs, and material cataloging systems to support efficient and reliable plant operations.
  • Update, review, and evaluate equipment access and layout for maintenance purposes, contributing to comprehensive maintenance strategies.
  • Develop construction system turnover plans to facilitate smooth project handover and operational readiness.
  • Research new technologies, regulations, and industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation and improvement.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in the oil and gas or petrochemical industry, with a proven track record of successful project delivery in gas flaring reduction, emissions abatement, or petrochemical optimization projects.
  • Demonstrated expertise in gas processing technologies, rotating equipment, piping systems, and mechanical systems design.
  • Strong project management skills, including budgeting, scheduling, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.
  • Proven problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound engineering decisions in a complex and dynamic environment.

Desired Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of Iraqi environmental regulations and industry practices related to gas flaring reduction and petrochemical operations.
  • Fluency in Arabic (spoken and written) to facilitate effective communication with local stakeholders and navigate the Iraqi business environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, recognized in Iraq or internationally.

Benefits:
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.
  • International exposure and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to high-impact projects with positive environmental and economic benefits.

Deadline: 15 June 2024
