LNG Tanks Field Construction Superintendent
Location: Remote site, Northern Mozambique (rotational position)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced LNG Tanks Field Construction Superintendent to join a major onshore LNG development — one of the largest energy infrastructure projects currently under construction globally, with an order of magnitude cost of $18 billion. The facility includes two LNG trains (13 mtpa total capacity), LNG and condensate storage, marine loading facilities, utilities, and extensive site infrastructure, with onboard personnel expected to peak at 15,000.

Reporting to the LNG Tanks Area Manager, you will lead the monitoring and oversight of the EPC Contractor's LNG Tanks construction works (LNG Tanks 1 & 2 and associated scope), ensuring safe, high-quality, and timely delivery through to system handover to Commissioning.

Key Responsibilities

• Champion HSE leadership by example, ensuring full compliance across all works to promote a safe working environment
• Coordinate and monitor all construction activities in your area in line with project requirements and procedures, through to final system handover
• Build strong working relationships with the EPC Contractor, managing both routine activities and critical issues
• Maintain a strong site presence, demonstrating safety, quality, and construction oversight through direct engagement with Contractor and Subcontractor teams
• Review construction progress, identify schedule risks or deviations, and propose mitigations to management and the EPC Contractor
• Support your Area Manager with input and coordination on overall site management
• Analyze issues and risks using technical expertise, proposing organizational and technical solutions and sharing lessons learned
• Prepare and monitor Precommissioning execution and transition to Commissioning, including during SIMOPS activities
• Contribute to peer assists, peer reviews, and technical assurance reviews to ensure procedural compliance
• Monitor the effectiveness of the EPC Contractor's construction management processes
• Lead or attend construction planning meetings to ensure proper follow-up of issues and resolutions
• Build and foster a strong team spirit, encouraging personal and professional development within your team

Context
This is a rotational position based at a remote site in Northern Mozambique, where infrastructure and communications can be limited. The site operates under specific mitigation measures relating to malaria, health pandemics, and general security considerations.

Requirements

• Degree in Engineering or a related discipline; advanced degree or professional qualifications preferred
• Minimum 10 years' relevant experience, including at least 5 years at superintendent level
• Minimum 5 years on large greenfield projects, with mandatory LNG tanks experience (GTL, petrochemical, refinery, or gas processing/feedstock plant experience also considered)
• Strong understanding of the critical success factors for large, complex projects: safety, environmental management, work organization, cost, schedule, quality, organizational competency, and reputational risk
• Strong HSE culture and safety leadership, with effective communication and the ability to influence critical decisions
• Strong written and verbal English communication skills; Portuguese or French advantageous
