Purpose of the Role
To provide senior-level piping design support for a fast-track brownfield capacity enhancement project, with strong focus on detailed engineering quality, site verification, 3D model maturity, tie-in constructability, and multidisciplinary coordination.
Position Overview
Seeking an experienced Senior Piping Designer with a minimum of 15 years of oil and gas piping design experience, including extensive exposure to detailed engineering and brownfield modification projects. The successful candidate will support the gas capacity enhancement project by developing high-quality piping layouts, 3D models, tie-in packages, and construction-ready design deliverables in line with project requirements, industry standards, and applicable international codes.
Key Responsibilities
-
Engineering and Piping Design
- Develop detailed piping layouts, equipment arrangements, routing studies, and piping general arrangement drawings for brownfield gas processing facilities.
- Prepare, check, and update piping deliverables including plot plans, equipment layouts, piping GAs, isometrics, tie-in drawings, support drawings, MTOs, underground routing drawings, and piping location plans.
- Perform and maintain 3D modelling using Smart 3D / SP3D in accordance with approved P&IDs, project specifications, and design basis requirements.
- Identify design clashes, space constraints, access issues, and constructability concerns, and support resolution through model reviews and interdisciplinary coordination.
-
Brownfield and Site Engineering
- Conduct site surveys, site verification, and existing facility checks to validate routing, tie-in points, pipe rack availability, access, and constructability.
- Support development of tie-in philosophies, shutdown execution inputs, and brownfield modification packages.
- Assist in hot tap and tie-in feasibility assessments, including review of existing piping, isolation philosophy, field accessibility, and operational constraints.
- Capture site findings and ensure they are incorporated into the 3D model, design deliverables, and construction work packs.
-
Interface and Multidisciplinary Coordination
- Coordinate closely with Process, Mechanical, Stress, Civil/Structural, Instrumentation, Electrical, Construction, and Procurement teams.
- Incorporate stress analysis requirements into piping layouts, support concepts, and flexibility-critical routing.
- Participate in 30%, 60%, and 90% model reviews, constructability reviews, HAZOP / design review sessions, and technical coordination meetings.
- Raise and resolve technical queries, design clarifications, interface issues, and change inputs in a timely manner.
Requirements
- Qualifications
- Diploma or degree in Mechanical Engineering, Piping Design, or a related technical discipline.
- Experience
- Minimum 15 years of piping design experience in the oil and gas industry.
- Minimum 10 years of detailed engineering experience on EPC / EPCM projects.
- Strong brownfield modification, revamp, debottlenecking, or capacity enhancement project experience.
- Proven experience working on Middle East or comparable gas processing facility projects.
