Manage activities to ensure that technically robust, cost effective equipment and packages are specified and procured. Function as the Specialist Project Static Equipment Engineer SME. Manage the day to day engineering activities to deliver a safe quality design. Including review and management of project and general specifications, engineering procedures and engineering policy.

Use technical knowledge and understanding of the engineering requirements to assist in the identification, assessment and selection of static and packaged equipment vendors. Define the static engineering standards to be used by the project. Ensure that they align with the project objectives and satisfy the needs of the company, industry codes & standards, local & national regulatory bodies, process licensors and other major stakeholder requirements. Provide technical expertise and support to the Engineering Contractors and review, comment on the Engineering Contractor, equipment suppliers and other 3rd party static engineering design deliverables. Ensure that the detailed engineering design carried out by the engineering contractors, equipment and packaged vendors, module suppliers, process licensors and proprietary equipment suppliers is carried out in accordance with the relevant US and state legislation, Engineering Codes and Standards, licensors’ process design packages, SHE and Project Excellence (PEX) standards meet the overall objectives of the project requirements.

Ensure that the static engineering sequence and activities are delivered to meet the project schedule and overall project budget.

Attend project and design review meetings as required to ensure that the engineering design meets the requirements of the project. Ensure that the rotating engineering design of the process plants, utilities and off-plots and site infrastructure are fully integrated, and that the interfaces are fully defined and understood.

Manage appropriate consultation with the process licensors and other members of the project team to ensure activities are integrated appropriately.

Ensure the quality requirements are specified, appropriate Inspection and Test Plans and the performance requirements are fully defined in the equipment specifications and that acceptance criteria are clearly defined and agreed.

Responsible for production of deliverables, which may include engineering support to DO, design calculations, specifications, procedures, analyses, progress reports, bid evaluations, CTR input, study reports and various 3rd-party submissions.

Responsible for the training and development of engineers in their discipline including train / mentor more junior engineers.

Input into the procurement, construction, commissioning and project control to ensure schedules are fully integrated and aligned.


SPECIAL FEATURES

The jobholder will be the expert and ‘go to’ person in the project for static equipment. static equipment includes chemical reactors, distillation / separation columns, HP & LP vessels, heat exchangers, fired equipment, steam & hot oil systems, exotic alloys, lifting equipment and large bore pipework connections operating in complex continuous operation high hazard facilities.

Be highly motivated, innovative, adaptable and have a very high concern for ethical and business standards. Demonstrate leadership qualities, strong people management skills and interpersonal awareness coupled with good communication, influencing and able to build and maintaining internal and external relationships.

The job holder will represent the project in key external relationships and will advise and interact with senior management. At all times the job holder must be aware of the Company’s legal obligations and responsibilities and ensure that they act in the best interest of the Company at all times.

The job holder will be expected to work on a wide range of complex engineering issues involving design contractors, process licensors, package and equipment vendors and site representatives.

The job holder will need to have a good working knowledge of the global supply base covering engineering contractors, static and packaged equipment vendors.

The job holder must be prepared to undertake extensive and frequent national and international travel.

The job holder is expected to lead a multinational, multi-location static engineering team to successfully deliver the project objectives. They must be technically credible, able to make judgements and influence decisions, on technical issues, project direction and resource allocation.


SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE The job holder will be degree qualified UK Chartered mechanical engineer (or registered US

Professional Engineer) with at least 10 years working on major projects particularly in the chemical, petrochemical or oil and gas projects, including front-end, detailed design and construction phases including handover to operations.

Design Experience in the following areas is essential, Modulisation, HAZOPs and 3D Model Reviews.

Experienced in complex projects including engineering design contractors, licensor & complex vendor packages.

Knowledge of Process Industry Practices (PIPs) and US PE requirements an advantage.
