The Senior Materials and Corrosion Engineer, you will be responsible for reaching project completion, to the required specifications and on schedule. You will work alongside subject matter experts to shape and support the delivery, providing solid technical advice and solutions to our clients across multiple sectors.
The successful candidate will be required to interface with oil and gas operators and Tier 1 engineering contractors, Renewables, Hydrogen transportation systems, carbon capture in support of greenfield and brownfield engineering projects.
You will represent Wood as a key technical consultant by sharing knowledge and experience to aid overall development of competencies within the Team, Group and Company to enhance overall project delivery to clients. This role offers a high-profile position in a highly visible and motivated team, with the exciting opportunity to be part of a significant growth group with ambitious plans.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- The development of material selection reports for design projects
- The development of design, manufacture, and fabrication specifications for a wide range of components, including pipelines, pressure vessels, flanges, connectors, piping, valves, and other production equipment
- Interface with design engineers, manufacturers, and fabrication contractors to ensure best practice and client specifications are applied to all stages of engineering projects
- Provide materials selection expertise based upon knowledge of metallurgy, engineering materials, operating environment, and material degradation mechanisms
- Writing, checking, and issuing of design documents for cathodic protection systems for pipeline (onshore and offshore) and static pressure systems components
- Conduct corrosion modelling activities, contribute to fitness for service studies and provide remaining life assessments
- Audit of corrosion management strategies and delivery of continuous improvement of integrity management systems
- Site based troubleshooting
- Occasional requirement to travel internationally to attend site meetings and workshops with clients for periods of up to one week
- Provide sound technical advice and support to emerging engineers within the team
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education to Engineering degree level in Materials / Metallurgy / Chemistry is preferred. Alternative tertiary education and suitable experience may be used to demonstrate equivalent standards.
- Chartered with an Engineering Council recognised institution.
- 8+ years of experience in the Oil & Gas or Energy industries preferably in a role which had a primary technical function requiring the provision of materials and corrosion engineering services
- A collaborative team member, with a proactive and outcome-driven approach
- The ability to make decisions and follow through, ensuring learnings are captured.
- A strong technical understanding with ability to comprehend complex issues and provide practical solutions.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and work in a developed team.
